Dr. Jerry Jorgensen, Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Jerry Jorgensen leads Augustana's Academic Affairs office and graduate and continuing education initiatives.

Dr. Jerry Jorgensen was named Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in May 2016.

A native of South Dakota, Jorgensen most recently provided leadership to Augustana’s existing graduate and continuing education programs and also facilitated the development and implementation of new programming. Prior to that, he served as provost and senior vice president for Park University in Parkville, Missouri. Before that, he spent more than a decade as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at South Dakota State University. A retired colonel with the U.S. Army Reserve, he also served as deputy director of the Army Reserve Communication Office at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

About Jorgensen
Jorgensen earned his doctorate degree in communications studies from the University of Nebraska and received his master’s degree and bachelor’s degree, both in journalism and mass communications, from South Dakota State University. He is also an honors graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
