Archeology Laboratory
The Sunday, February 19, Third Sunday Archeology Program will feature Dr. Matthew Sayre, assistant professor of anthropology at the University of South Dakota. Sayre's discussion on "Life at Chavín de Huántar, a 3,000-Year-Old Temple in Peru" will be at 2 p.m. in Gilbert Science Center #100.
While "anthropology" is not your standard college major — Augustana sees an increase in anthropology majors.
Augustana's Archeology Laboratory is a self-sustaining teaching and research entity with offices and laboratory facilities based on the campus of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For more than 30 years, the Archeology Laboratory has been involved in archeological, paleoenvironmental, ethnohistorical, architectural and historical/oral historical studies and museum consulting in the Great Plains Region and its peripheries. The Laboratory undertakes research and contract work and collaborates closely with scientists from around the world.
Our well-qualified and experienced professional archeologists provide a broad range of cultural resource management, historic preservation and archeological research experience.
