Health Profession Programs

Beyond the students who major in nursing, those desiring to pursue professions in health care typically major in biology or chemistry to prepare themselves for graduate study in areas such as teaching, research, industry, medicine, dentistry, clinical lab science, physical therapy, and environmental biology.

Augustana's pre-professional programs include chiropractic, dentistry, medical lab science, medicine, mortuary science, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant and veterinary medicine.

Course descriptions and requirements for the health profession programs are available in the Undergraduate Catalog.

Popular Health Professions

Below are some health professions that are of interest to many Augustana students. Web links to information on application and standardized exams that are required are listed below.  Many programs, including physicians assistant, physical therapy, and veterinary medicine programs, require Graduate Record Exams (GRE) scores for application. http://www.ets.org/gre/

For information about specific health professions programs and preparation for standardized exams, see the health professions resource area in the biology seminar room.
