French Major's Work Published in Paris Journal

Senior Chris Johnson has had his article "Poisson bleu ou les fragments d'un jeune homme handicapé" published in the French journal La Revue Littéraire (Editions Léo Scheer, Paris). Johnson, who is majoring in French and English, is also a member of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society and the Vice President of Augie's Le Cercle Français. He will deliver a reading in French of an excerpt from his work, followed by a discussion in English, on April 8, 2010 at 3:15 P.M. In Humanities 320. Félicitations Chris!

Seven Inducted into Pi Delta Phi

Seven Augie French majors were recently inducted into Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society.National French Honor Society. New members are:
Pi Delta Phi, established in 1906 at the University of California at Berkeley, is the French National Honor Society for undergraduate and graduate students at accredited public and private colleges and universities in the United States. The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and its literatures, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and francophone cultural activities.
There are currently 350 chapters of Pi Delta Phi in the United States and two representative chapters at the American Universities in Paris and Aix-en-Provence in France. The Society was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies in 1967.
Augustana College’s chapter, Mu Alpha, was established in 1997 and is the only chapter of the Society in South Dakota. Dr. Scott Fish is the faculty advisor.
