Nursing

Nursing at Augustana is a science and an art.

Since 1940, the Department of Nursing at Augustana College has been a regional leader in preparing nurses, clinical nurse leaders, and administrators for hospitals or community health organizations. Our innovative program values excellence, service and complete health care for the community.

The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 887-6791 and approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing, 4305 South Louise Ave., Suite 201, Sioux Falls, SD 57106, (605) 362-2760.  Our pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is consistently higher than the state and national norms. Plus, we’re the only four-year professional nursing program in the region that is part of a liberal arts college. Our graduates are well-rounded and ready for a quickly changing world.

From the moment you decide to major in nursing, you’ll be welcomed to a small but mighty department that works hard to tailor your course of study to your interests. Nursing majors don’t just excel here; they’re also actively involved as student-athletes, musicians, and more.

Are you ready for a challenge? Are you enthusiastic about helping others? Do you want to make a difference in the world through active, hands-on learning among a diverse group of students?
