Karla Abbott is transitioning into Behavioral Health Nursing upon Dr. Karen Fritz' retirement. An enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Karla is involved in research that preserves the health of Native Americans and transcultural nursing endeavors. She received her BSN from Michigan State University and her Masters in Nursing from Augustana. Karla will be graduating in June 2013 with Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Karla serves as ANSA advisor; Sanford Health Biomedical Ethics Committee member; SD Urban Indian Health board member; and SD Synod Multicultural Commitee of the ELCA.
