Are you unsure about your next step? The Career Center staff can help! We offer assistance wherever you are in the decision-making process.
Choosing a Major
We have reference materials on careers in many areas including: Liberal Arts, Mathematics, Political Science, Business, English, Psychology, Computer Science, Law, and more. We also offer the Strong Interest Inventory, an informative career development tool that helps you define your career interests. This online assessment takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. A 30 to 45 minute followup session with the Career staff is offered to interpret your results.
Individual Career Counseling
We highly encourage you to schedule an appointment or stop by to talk with the staff regarding your career planning process.
Resume / Cover Letter / Interview Preparation
Please visit the Career Center to look at sample resumes and letters. Upon completion of your first draft, ask a staff member to critique and proofread everything! Our Job Search page also contains valuable information and tips.
Job Fairs / Job Shadowing / Workshops
Job search tips can be located through The Job Search portion of the Career Center website. The Career Center staff will also help you individually at any point in the job search process. Job Fairs are held every year, and "The Big Three" are listed on the homepage of our website. Employers attend job fairs as an economical way to contact many candidates in a short period of time. If you'd like to investigate a particular career for yourself, the Career Center can arrange a job shadowing experience. Workshops are offered periodically, providing valuable information on writing resumes and letters, interviewing, and job search strategies.
Job Listings - Full-Time, Part-Time, Summer, and Internships
These job listings are compiled by the Career Center and are available to students and alumni via the Career Center Job and Internship Listing page. Listings are sorted by category and specify full-time, part-time, or summer/seasonal.
Alumni Mentoring / Networking
Augustana College has a strong alumni network, and the Career Center can help connect you with Augustana graduates for informational interviews, mentoring, job shadowing, and networking purposes.
On-Campus Interviews and Mock Interviews
On-Campus interviews are held throughout the year. Employers come to the Augustana Campus to interview candidates for positions with their organizations. The Career Center also conducts individual mock interviews as a way to prepare you for future job interviews. Schedule an appointment and let us know how we can help you!
Career and Life Planning Interim Class
This class is designed for students who are uncertain of their career choice and/or selection of a major. GENL 100: Career and Life Planning will allow you to gain a better sense of the occupations that might be right for you and what majors can get you there.
