Campus Benefits

Chapel Service

  • The mission of Augustana College is to serve as a Christian educational community. Time is incorporated in the workday to encourage chapel attendance. This time is in addition to normal breaks.

Mikkelsen Library

  • Mikkelsen Library serves as the information center for the Augustana College community through its development of a local collection, its support of the instructional process, its encouragement of independent learning and research, and its access to other sources of information. The members of the Augustana community are encouraged to use the library for their information needs.

  • The Augustana identification card serves as the library card. The Mikkelsen Library circulates books, government documents, videos, DVDs, CDs and other media. The Augustana ID card must be presented to check out materials. The Augustana ID may also be used to borrow material from the University of Sioux Falls, North American Baptist Seminary, Wegner Health Science Information Center, Siouxland Libraries and Southeast Technical Institute.

  • The library has a variety of electronic resources available from its web page. Resources, such as the library catalog, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and article indexes, are available for employee use both on and off campus. Contact the library (274-4921 or ref@augie.edu) for research assistance and off-campus access information.

  • Employees may request items owned by the library to be delivered to their office via Mikkelsen Express. If the requested material is available, it will be delivered to an office within 24 hours of the request. This service is available Monday through Friday. To request Mikkelsen Express delivery go to www.augie.edu/library/ and click on Library Services, then Mikkelsen Express.

  • If the library does not own an item, the library can borrow or obtain a copy using interlibrary loan (ILL). The majority of ILL requests are free of charge. If there is a fee, the patron is notified before proceeding with the request. Many of our databases allow patrons to submit ILL requests directly. Additionally, an ILL form is available here. Click on Library Services, then Interlibrary Loan. E-mail requests can be sent to ill@augie.edu

  • Instructional Media Services (IMS) houses a diverse collection of media in various formats, the technology needed to utilize that media, as well as the facilities and technology to create new media. Production services include printing, audio/video duplication, lamination, creation/duplication of data/music CDs and video editing. Contact IMS staff (274-4920 or ims@augie.edu) for pricing information or for other media questions.

Bookstore Discount

  • Employees receive a 10% discount at the bookstore by showing their Augie ID.

  • The bookstore hosts a faculty/staff appreciation day in the fall.

Dining Service

  • The cafeteria offers a variety of hot and cold entrees at discounted rates for employees.

  • Employees receive a 25% bonus on munch money when purchased during the first two weeks of the school year.

  • Departments have lower rates on catering.

Recreational Services

  • Recreational services are available to Augustana employees and their immediate families.

  • The Recreational Services Learn To Swim Program is available to anyone in the Sioux Falls region.

  • Activities specifically for employees: special Faculty/Staff water aerobics at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, noon basketball, Family Nite pool parties, Kids Rec/Book break, and Kid's Rec Camp.

  • With your Augie ID you can use the weight room, the pool, or check out recreational equipment. Also available is a walking/running track, indoor tennis, racketball, intramural events, and aerobic/fitness classes at no cost to you.

  • All athletic events are free to employees with an Augie ID.

Campus Learning Center (Day Care)

  • Rated amongst the best in Sioux Falls, the Campus Learning Center provides an excellent pre-school program and developmentally appropriate learning for ages 1-6.

  • The Campus Learning Center is open 12 months out of the year Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

  • Toddlers (children 1-3)

  • Preschool (children 3-6)

Career Center

  • The Career Center is available primarily to dependents fro help with resumes and career ideas. Dependents may also take the Strong Interest Inventory (a career assessment tool) at no cost.

Computer Laboratories

  • Computer laboratories are available for employee use at various locations on campus. This benefit is at no cost to the employee.

Theater Productions

  • Tickets are available for $1 for anyone with an Augie ID and their immediate family.

Public Events

  • Approximately 95% of every public event sponsored by Augustana is free to employees or tickets are available. These events include the Boe Forum, Vespers, Concerts by the Augustana Band and Augustana Choir, and more than 100 additional concerts or music programs.

Jury Duty

  • If called to jury duty, regular salary is earned in addition to court payment.

Military Leave

  • Up to two weeks regular salary is earned per year in addition to military pay for Reserves or National Guard training.
