Support Staff Personnel Council

The Support Staff Personnel Council is an advisor to the administration of the College and as such, reports directly to the President.

The Council is concerned with all matters relating to the welfare and employment conditions of the Support Staff personnel.

The Council is comprised of ten (10) members: four (4) from the clerical division, three (3) from the housekeeping division, and three (3) from the maintenance division. Members are elected to serve a three-year term. All members are eligible to serve two (2) consecutive three-year terms upon re-election by their peers within the division. The President and the Director of Human Resources are non-voting ex-officio members.

The major functions of the Council are as follows:

  • Review and make recommendations for handbook changes
  • Review salary schedules as appropriate
  • Recommend safety precautions and provisions
  • Recommend ways of furthering goals of Affirmative Action Plan
  • Review problem-situations as appropriate (see Problem Review Procedure)
  • Represent the Support Staff at Board of Regents meetings
  • Consider matters relating to employment or working conditions and advise the President/Director of Human Resources
  • Be concerned with equality for all employees
  • Represent support staff on matters that concern campus benefits
