Nancy DavidsonNancy Davidson

Nancy attended Hamlin High School in South Dakota and is a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University, where she studied business administration and management. She has been on the admission staff since 1990.

Amazing colleagues and Augustana’s great professors and students make this her dream job. She loves to spend time outside, especially running or walking. At the base of her food pyramid are chocolate and coffee. Among her most memorable Augustana experiences:  traveling to Germany in 2000 and India in 2008 with Augustana's Distinguished Scholars and celebrating her goddaughter's graduation from Augustana in 2010.

Adam attended Brandon Valley (South Dakota) High School and graduated with honors from Augustana in 1999. He taught fifth grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Fargo for one year and joined the staff in 2000. In 2004, he completed an M.A. in educational leadership at the University of Sioux Falls.

Adam and his wife, Sandra '97, are the proud parents of Ella, Maya, Jake and Drew. A former Augustana football player, Adam is a sports enthusiast and especially enjoys watching the Augustana Vikings in action on Saturdays. In his very limited free time, he also likes to hit the road for a run. Augustana has taken Adam many places, including China, Germany, Great Britain, and Ireland.

Madeleine EllisMadeleine Ellis

Madeleine graduated from Gonzaga University in 2013 with degrees in biology and environmental studies. During her time at Gonzaga, Madeleine enjoyed dancing on the University’s hip-hop crew and serving as an Ambassador in the Admission Office.

Before arriving at Augustana, Madeleine completed an internship at “The Happiest Place on Earth” (besides Augustana): Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. She enjoys being a part of the Augustana Admission Staff and looks forward to working with you! 

Maren EngelMaren Engel
Assistant Director of Admission/Coordinator of Arts Recruitment

Territory/Responsibility: Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls Christian, Iowa, KS, OK, TX

Maren is an Oklahoman and a 2013 graduate of Augustana with majors in music and classics. During her time at Augustana, Maren was involved in anything and everything music. She was also a member of the Augustana Student Association and served as an Augustana Ambassador. Some of her favorite experiences were studying abroad in Greece, Norway and India and performing both nationally and internationally with her Augustana Choir family.

Maren is excited to have returned to campus as an admission team member, encouraging prospective students to Go Viking! She enjoys singing, spending time outdoors and a good cup of coffee.

Wade Gemar

Wade Gemar

Territory/Responsibility: Sioux Falls Roosevelt; Sioux Falls Washington; southeast, south central and western South Dakota; Montana; Wisconsin; Wyoming

Originally from Scotland, South Dakota, Wade graduated from Augustana in 2008 with a major in business administration. As a student, Wade was actively involved as a member of the Augustana Choir, intramural athlete, Viking Varieties emcee, and New Student Orientation (NSO) leader.  Finding himself inspired to explore the world, Wade studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. He also traveled to Tanzania with the Augustana Choir.

After graduating, Wade spent 3 months volunteering and learning Swahili in Tanzania (2008) and lived in Nairobi, Kenya, for 6 months (2011). Most recently, Wade worked for the Center for New Americans in Sioux Falls as a case coordinator and employment specialist. In his spare time, Wade enjoys cycling, watching and playing sports (Go Cubs!) and spending time with friends and family. Wade is excited to be back on campus as a member of the Augustana admission team. 


Amanda ScottingAmanda Scotting

A South Dakota native, Amanda grew up in Sioux Falls before moving to Michigan for college. She attended Hope College for two years and then transferred to Kuyper College where she graduated in 2014 with a degree in social work. During her time at Kuyper, Amanda traveled to Ecuador for 6 months where she volunteered with the local community and area schools.

Her love for adventure and new cultures has also taken her to Zambia, Israel, and Haiti. In her free time, you can find Amanda outdoors (hiking, camping, kayaking, biking), reading, playing volleyball, or hanging out with her family. Amanda is excited to be a part of the AU community!


Thomas ElnessThomas Elness

Thomas graduated from Augustana University in 2016 with a major in Communication Studies/Business. As a student, Thomas was actively involved across campus, including providing valuable leadership as the Vice President of the  Augustana Student Association. He served as an Augustana Ambassador in both the Office of Admission and the Office of Advancement. One of his favorite memories as a student was watching his peers win an NCAA Division II National Championship in men's basketball.

Thomas invested the past year gaining valuable experience working for a full-service marketing firm in Sioux Falls. While he loved his position, he is excited to be back at AU as a member of the admission team serving prospective students and their families as they navigate their college search.

Philip MulderPhilip Mulder
Assistant Director of International Admission

Territory/Responsibility: International Students

Philip earned his B.A. degree from Augustana in 2010, with a major in government and international affairs. He then started working in higher education at United International College – a new liberal arts cooperation between Hong Kong Baptist University and Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai, China. There he lectured academic and general English courses for five years. Besides lecturing, Philip also examined for the British Council and trained local teachers. His world travels include more than 12 countries with a focus on China, having explored over 20 provinces and major municipalities there. His international experience continues to develop back at Augustana University, where he joined the IPO staff in 2015.
