IB, AP, College in Schools, and PSEO Information
IB
Academic credit is granted on a course-by-course basis for International Baccalaureate Higher Level examinations in which the student has received a score of 4 or higher.
AP
Students who receive a score of 4 or 5 on the College Entrance Examination Board’s Advanced Placement Examinations (AP) may be awarded placement and credit. A complete list of course equivalencies is available for review.
CLEP
Credit will be awarded for the successful completion of most College Level Examination Program Subject Matter Examinations. Augustana uses the recommended score for awarding credit as contained in the CLEP Subject Examination Policy. Students who achieve the minimum passing score or higher will have the equivalent Augustana course noted on their transcript, with credit granted towards graduation and when appropriate, they will be excused from the corresponding general education equivalent.
PSEO
Credit is generally awarded for courses taken through the Post Secondary Enrollment Options program. Students must present an official transcript from the college or university from which the credit has been earned and must have achieved a grade of C- or higher. Augustana will accept a maximum of 32 hours of pre-matriculation credit. Additional hours may be petitioned to the college registrar.
College in Schools
Augustana invites academically talented high school students to supplement their high school curriculum with college courses and obtain college credit through the College In Schools Program.
It is the responsibility of the student to work with his/her high school administration to determine if the credit earned at Augustana can be used to fulfill high school graduation requirements.
Academic Requirements
High school juniors and seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.3, and permission from their secondary institution and parent(s) may be eligible to enroll in one class at the College at a cost of $200.00 per credit hour. This tuition reduction is available for the initial college course. Standard tuition rates apply for all additional courses.
Course Availability and Selection
The Office of Admission provides course advisement, selection and registration. Participation in college courses is on a space available basis. If space allows, students are contacted and are able to register the day before the first day of the desired term. Students may view the Course Schedule to see what classes are offered.
Application Process
Complete an Augustana “College In Schools” Course Registration form (.pdf) or check with your high school guidance professional. A completed application consists of the registration form, including all required signatures, and an official high school transcript.
