Planning Your Campus Visit
|
You're invited to visit Augustana
Most of our current students will tell you that their campus visit had a big impact on their decision to choose Augustana. We love our campus community and are eager to share it with you and your family. Touring the facilities, meeting current students, and visiting with a professor and other college faculty and staff will provide you with unique insights about the life and spirit of Augustana--the intangibles that are impossible to convey in a brochure or on a web site. When you come for a visit, you'll walk across our beautifully maintained 100-acre campus, observe students and faculty at work in classrooms and labs, check out the social scene in the Commons, and more than likely be greeted by people you don't know along the way.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to do some or all of the following:
- Tour the campus with a current student
- Meet with a faculty member in your area(s) of interest
- Attend a class in your area(s) of interest (September through May)
- Learn more about co-curricular opportunities
- Learn more about the scholarship and financial aid program
- Meet with a member of the Admission Staff
"Providing an exceptional campus visit experience for prospective students and parents is very important to us. Students should leave here with a strong sense of the Augustana experience and the role it can play in their future. Meeting with professors, students, and staff is critical in determining if this should be your college home."
- Nancy Davidson, Vice President of Enrollment
Scheduling your customized campus visit
We host hundreds of campus visitors each month, but we will customize your visit so that you meet the people you want to meet and see the facilities you wish to see. To arrange your personal visit, please call the Office of Admission at 800.727.2844, locally at 605.274.5516, or email Dianne, our Campus Visit Coordinator at dianne.jansen@augie.edu. Be sure to visit when classes are in session to get the most out of your time on campus.
Office Hours
The Augustana Office of Admission is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. During the academic year, the Office is also open on most Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. by appointment. The College is closed over the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holiday breaks.
Lodging Guide
Families are always welcome to accompany you on your visit. The Office of Admission maintains an accurate listing of local hotels that provide discount rates for Augustana visitors.
Overnight Visits
We can arrange for a one-night stay in a residence hall Sunday through Thursday nights during the academic year. Due to busy weekend schedules, we are unable to accommodate a Friday or Saturday overnight visit.
An overnight visit does require a 10-day advance reservation and will include a formal meeting with an admission representative and a campus tour. You will also be invited to meet with a professor in your area of interest and are encouraged to sit in on a class. Due to the academic calendar, overnight visits may be scheduled in October, November, January, February, March and April.
For additional information, or to arrange your overnight stay, contact Dianne Jansen, Campus Visit Coordinator at 800-727-2844 toll-free or locally at 274-5516.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
You can explore Sioux Falls, South Dakota and discover why Money Magazine has called it the "Most Livable City in America." This city of 150,000 provides many opportunities for Augustana students, and we encourage you to spend some time in Sioux Falls before or after your campus visit.
