Division II athletics in the United States is very competitive. A limited number of athletes are able to play, but international students are encouraged to try out. Watch the "I Chose Division II" video  to hear why students choose Division II schools such as Augustana.

Recreational Services. Many students choose to play intramural sports at Augustana. In intramurals, students compete against other Augustana students. Though some games may be highly competitive, the emphasis is on fun and recreation. There are more than 50 intramural leagues and club teams that students may join. Teams include soccer, volleyball, flag football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, ping pong, laser tag, racquetball, ski club, soccer club, Kong Su Do club, and hockey club. The Elmen Center also provides a swimming pool, a fitness center with free weights, elliptical machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, aerobic classes and sauna.

Activities and Student Organizations. You will never be bored at Augustana College. With concerts from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Philip Phillips and Sara Bareilles; speeches from Al Gore and Maya Angelou; clubs for Green, Augieholics, International Club, Augustana Student Association, Dance Express, Art Club, El Club Español, Deutsch-Klub, Le Cercle Français, Outreach Ministries, Union Board of Governors, S.A.L.T. (Service and Learning Together), or the Pre-Med Club; there are endless things to do.

Friday Rendezvous.  Meet your friends every Friday at 3:00 in the Back Alley for the weekly Rendezvous.  Each week, students from around the globe will present on their home country. Topics include local culture, entertainment, history and little known facts.  A full listing of dates and countries is located on the Rendezvous Event Page.  For presenters, here are some helpful tips for a successful Rendezvous presentation.

Augustana Cultural Exchange (ACE) Ambassador Program.  The ACE program is an exciting leadership opportunity for students interested in developing intercultural skills and establishing friendships with international students. The program is designed to support international students as they transition to the United States and to facilitate meaningful, intercultural relationships.  Ambassadors play a mentor role to new international students; providing guidance, advice and camaraderie.  ACE Ambassador positions are open each spring to returning Augustana students.  An application for this leadership opportunity is available here.

Career Center. The Career Center has friendly staff available to assist students with finding internships, developing interviewing skills, and securing full-time employment upon graduation. For international students eligible to work, the Career Center maintains a listing of full-time and part-time employment opportunities. Along with Augustana's professors, the Career Center also helps students with applications and placement in graduate schools.

The Mirror. Augustana's student newspaper, The Mirror, provides many opportunities for students to be involved.  The Mirror provides the campus with news, information, and entertainment.

Campus Ministry. Augustana College is affiliated with the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Students have many opportunities to be involved with worship services, outreach, youth ministry, and more. The campus ministry team is also available to counsel students seeking spiritual guidance.
