Augustana Academy

Each summer since 1975 Augustana College has hosted an all-school reunion for alumni and friends of Augustana Academy, the former Lutheran high school in Canton, SD.

In 1971 when the Academy closed, Augustana College took over the Academy's records and Augustana's Center for Western Studies became home to the archives of the Academy.

Today, close to 300 alumni and friends of Augustana Academy come each summer to Augie's campus for a reunion weekend.

2008 Reunion Information

The 2008 Reunion will be held July 25-27, 2008 on Augustana's campus. The Classes of 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, and 1968 will celebrate reunions.

Reunion information will be sent in June. If you don't receive it, please contact the Alumni Office. Watch this site for additional information throughout the year.

Alumni and Friend Awards

During each reunion at the Alumni and Friends Banquet, awards are given to recognize alumni and friends of the Academy. The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is given to an Academy graduate who has excelled in his/her field and who has been involved in his/her church and community. The Friend of Augustana Academy Award is given to a former member of the faculty or staff, friend, or someone with a close connection to the Academy.

To nominate someone for either award please send a one-page description of the person you're nominating and why he or she should receive the award to: Mary Toso, Director of Alumni Relations, Augustana College, 2001 S. Summit Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57197.

Award winners are chosen in the winter months each year.

Alumni and Friends Council

Several members of the Augustana Academy family make up the governing board of the Academy. These individuals are instrumental in choosing award winners, helping to plan the reunion weekend, fundraising efforts and many other tasks.
