Augustana Bike Club
The Augustana Bike Club strives to bring together students and faculty who have a love of bicycling and provide them with a wide variety of biking opportunities and friendly fellowship.
Anyone is welcome to join the club! All you need is an interest in bikes! The Augustana Bike Club was founded in May of 2013. Since then, the club has held bi-weekly rides during the fall and spring semesters, bike maintenance classes, winter and summer bike storage, and has even opened up the campus's very own Augustana Bike Shop.
The bike shop is located in the basement of Solberg residence hall and is open at times convenient for student use. The shop is run on a volunteer mechanic basis, which allows students to bring in their bikes for a volunteer to work on them, to work on them by themselves with provided tools, or to work on them alongside a volunteer mechanic to learn the ropes of bicycle maintenance, all free of charge. The shop also carries small replacement parts that can be purchased at a minimal fee.
The bike shop is also the home of the Augustana Bike Club where they have monthly meetings and events. Future events put on by the club include group rides (of any and all types of biking), bike maintenance classes, movie nights, bike safety presentations/talks, progressive dinner rides, picnic rides, and much more.
