According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

  • 1:10 PM - Schoeneman Apartments, 1411 W. 33rd Street.  Property Damage.  A student / resident called the Office of Campus Safety and reported that there had been damage done to the students vehicle. Officer responded.  Damage was done to the windshield of the vehicle.  Suspect is a foul ball baseball.  Incident report completed.

  • 4:00 PM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Medical Emergency.  Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive subject in a residence hall. Victim regained consciousness and was subsequently transported to a hospital emergency room by ambulance for further assessment. Incident report completed.

  • 1:39 AM - Heuther Tennis Courts, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Underage Consumption / Fleeing from Police.  Patroling SFPD unit observed two intoxicated individuals engaged in suspicious activity on tennis courts and made contact. One subject fled and was apprehended by DCS officers. One Underage Consumption citation issued. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 2:19 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Response.  Officers responded to a request from Residence Life to assess an intoxicated subject. Subject determined to have accidentally overdosed on prescription drug. Subject was determined to be in no medical danger and a plan to monitor victim for the remainder of the night was established. Incident report completed.
  • 3:00 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Stolen Bicycle.  Student presented at Campus Safety to report a stolen bicycle from Elmen Center parking during the previous 48 hours. Bicycle was reported to have been locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 1:39 AM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street,  Possible Narcotics Violation / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers were dispatched to a dormitory to assist Residence Life with a report of narcotics and alcohol violations. Incident report completed and investigation pends.
  • 9:45 AM - 2800 S. Spring Avenue.  Suspicious Activity.  Student was contacted by SFPD after reports that a suspicious man was going through cars in a parking lot. Subject was identified and determined to be searching for his lost property. Subject was warned by SFPD and released. Incident report comleted and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 9:20 AM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Slip and Fall.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a guest falling and being injured. Ambulance responded and assessed victim, further medical attention was refused. Incident report completed.
  • 11:10 PM - Intersection of 33rd Street and Grange Avenue.  Campus Safety officers on patrol observed two intoxicated subjects attempting to steal a city street barricade. Subjects dropped the barricade and fled upon discovery. Students were relocated and identified. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 6:29 PM - Off Campus.  Harassment.  Faculty member presented to Campus Safety to report an incident of harassment of a student at an off campus location. Incident report completed and investigation pends.
  • 11:21 PM - 2021 S. Spring Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a loud party at an off campus private residence. SPFD was already on scene breaking up the party. Several alcohol violation citations were issed by SFPD and students warned with arrest if any further violations. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 9:30 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  Officers were advised by phone report that a student had been injured while playing an athletic activity.  Officers responded and transported the injured student to a medical facility for further evaluation.

  • 10:45 PM - Alley Parking Lot, 2300 Block of South Summit Avenue.  Suspicious Vehicle and Persons.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle and persons loitering in an alleyway behind campus residential housing units. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with three unidentified subjects. Non-college affiliated subjects indicated they were waiting for family who lived in the vicinity. Subjects were requested to relocate their vehicle and complied. Incident report completed.

  • 3:15 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism..  Staff member presented to Campus Safety officer to file a late report of vandalism to his vehicle after discovering several scratches on the passenger door. Victim esitmates the damage was committed betwen 5:00 PM on 09 19 2014 and 1:30 AM on 09 20 2014 while parked on Commons Drive. Incident report completed.
  • 4:50 PM - Campus Green, 2301 S. Summit Avenue.  Illegall Driving on Sidewalk.  Officer observed a motorcycle being operated recklessly on a pedestrian sidewalk on campus. Officer was able to identify the subject before the subject fled the scene on the motorcycle. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 10:00 AM - Service Center Annex, 2108 S. Grange Avenue.  Intentional Damage to Property.  College employee filed a report of a broken vehicle windshield on a College vehicle. Window appears to have been broken by small unidentified projectile. Incident report completed.
  • 8:00 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium Lot, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Medical Assistance / Disorderly Conduct / Illegal Entry / Damage to Vehicle. An officer was waived down by a motorist seeking assistance for a third person who had locked themselves in a vehicle they had entered illegally while under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. Officer gained access to the vehicle and after a brief medical assessment summoned an ambulance and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. Emergency medical personnel responded and subject was turned over to SFPD after becoming disorderly. Subject was arrested and transported to the Minnehaha County Jail. Incident reort completed.
  • 10:52 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism.  Officer conducting foot patrol discovered a broken window in a dormitory fire escape stairwell.  Evidence collected and an incident report was completed.
  • 11:07 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Welfare Check.  Officers were dispatched to conduct a student welfare check in a dormitory. Subject was located safe and well. Incident report completed.

Subject regained consciousness and was assessed by Emergency Medical Technicians. Further medical treatment was declined. Incident report completed.

  • 1:21 AM - East Hall, 2001 S. Summit Avenue.  Underage Consumption / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officer came into contact with an underage subject in possession of alcohol on campus. Alcohol was confiscated and the subject was identified. Incident report was completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 1:30 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Underage Consumption / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers responded to a request for assistance from Residence Life personnel regarding an intoxicated subject. Officers assessed the subject and determined the student was intoxicated but not in medical danger.  Residence Life made arangements to monitor the student throughout the remainder of the night. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.  
  • 5:15 PM - Huether Tennis Courts, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Bicycle Accident.  Officers responded to a report of an injured adolescent following a bicycle accident.  Officers assessed the victim's injuries and and rendered first aid. Victim was attempting to jump a bicycle off of a loading dock. Parent of the victim arrived and elected to transport him to a medical facility for further treatment. Incident report completed.

  • 10:30 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a loud party in a campus apartment building. Report was substantiated and contact was made with the residents. Hosts were discovered to be underage and remaining alcohol was confiscated. Incident report was completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 10:30 AM - Bergsaker Hall Lot, 1109 W. 33rd Street.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Moving vehicle struck the corner of a parked vehicle in a campus parking lot. No injuries. Incident report completed.
  • 8:12 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Vehicle exiting a campus parking lot struck a moving vehicle in a public street. No injuries. SFPD responded and issued red tags. Incident report completed.
  • 8:58 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Moving vehicle struck a parked vehicle while pulling into a parking space in a campus parking lot. No injuries. SFPD responded and issued red tags. Incident report completed.

  • 10:19 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  Metro Communications contacted Campus Safety Dispatch and advised that they had dispatched an ambulance to the Student Health Clinic for a bicycle accident.  Campus Safety Officers responded.  A student victim of the bicycle was located in the Student Health Clinic.  The student received multiple injuries as a result of falling from the bicycle.  The victim was transported to a medical facility ER for evaluation.  Incident report completed.

  • 3:21 PM - Administration Building, 2101 S. Summit Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  Officers responded to the Administration Building after a phone request for Campus Safety came into the dispatch center.  Officers were directed to the registrar's office.  Officers found a subject that had fainted but was now conscious.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Rural Metro responded.  The patient refused ambulace transport but was taken to a medical facility by another party for further evaluation.  Incident report completed.

  • 11:55 PM - Administration Parking Lot, 2100 S. Summit Avenue.  Suspicious Vehicle.  Officers responded to a request to check on a suspicous vehicle in a campus parking lot. Vehicle located and driver identified. Driver was directed to move the vehicle off campus. Incident report completed.

  • 1:31 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 25th Street.  Alcohol Policy Violation / Refusal to Cooperate.  An officer observed an intoxicated male loitering near a dormitory and made contact. A second officer arrived as back-up. Subject refused to surrender a large bottle of alcohol / improvised weapon. Pepper spray was employed by officer and the subject fled on foot. Incident report completed.
  • 1:56 am - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Alcohol Policy Violation / Underage Consumption / Attempted Unauthorized Access.  Officer observed a male subject repeatedly attempting to gain access to a dormitory and investigated. Student subject was intoxicated and in possession of alcohol. Alcohol was confiscated subject was identified. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 12:50 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  911 Hang-Up Call.  Campus Safety officers were dispatched to assist SFPD investigating an 911 hang-up up call. Caller was not located. Incident report completed.
  • 3:00 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Bicycle Theft.  Student filed a late report of a bicycle theft from a dormitory bicycle rack. Bicycle was not locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.
  • 5:35 PM - Summit Avenue Apartments, 2420 S. Summit Avenue.  Medical Assistance.  Officer was approached by minor children complaining of a foot injury. Officer provided first aid , located parent and returned custody of the children. Incident report completed.
  • 11:30 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a telephone report of a possible fire alarm in campus apartment complex. Source of alarm was determined to be cooking smoke. SFFR responded and reset the alarm system. Incident report completed.

    • 4:55 PM - Menlo Annex, 1200 W. 28th Street.  Unauthorized Access.  An officer observed several individuals on the roof of a college residential house. Subjects were removed, identified and and incident report was completed.
    • 11:05 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Ave.  Noise Disturbance.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a noise complaint. Residents were instructed to turn down the music and limit the number of guests to the number permitted by Residence Life policy. Incident report completed.

    • 9:09 PM - Duluth Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Ave.  Damage to Property.  Officer responded to a student report of a moped being damaged when moved by an unauthorized person. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

    • 2:30 PM - Global Education House, 2001 S. Norton Avenue.  Theft.  A student presented to  the Office of Campus Safety and reported the theft of some of the students property.  Incident report completed.
    • 3:05 PM - Sioux Falls Seminary.  2100 S. Summit Avenue.  Vandalism.  A staff member of the Sioux Falls Seminary phoned the Office of Campus Safety and reported that damage had been done to the building.  Officer responded.  Pictures were taken of the damage.  Sioux Falls Police were contacted and responded and filed a police report.  Incident report completed.
    • 3:30 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium.  Suspicious Subject.  Officers received a phone report from a staff member of a suspicious male subject taking pictures of female students.  The vehicle license plate of the vehicle the subject  was driving was recorded.  Investigation continues.  Incident report completed.

    • 10:38 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Medical Emergency.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of an injury.  Officer responded and found that a father of a student was injured while helping student move in.  Officer administered first aid.  Victim transported himself to a medical facility for further treatment.
    • 8:00 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism. A contractor working at Augustana College called the Department of Campus Safety and reported that a construction vehicle parked on the lot had been damaged.  Incident report completed.
    • 2:33 AM - Summit Apartments, 2420 S. Summit Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officer conducting security checks came upon a loud party and made contact. Subjects were cooperative and followed instructions. Incident report completed.
    • 1:20 AM - 2335 S. Grange Avenue.  Party Disturbance.  An officer observed a large group of students congregated in front of a private residence where a party was being held. Subjects were creating a disturbance and appeared to be intoxicated. One of the subjects threw a bottle into a campus parking lot and then fled into a dormitory when approached by Campus Safety. Two of the subjects were later identified. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.

    • 9:00 PM - Costello Apartments, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Possible Narcotics Violation.  Officers were dispatched to investigate an odor of marijuana in the hallway of a campus residence facility. Possible subjects were interviewed and an incident report was completed.
    • 2:25 PM - Costello Apartments, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Possible Narcotics Violation.  Officers were dispatched to investigate an odor of marijuana in the hallway of a campus residence facility. Possible subjects were interviewed and an incident report was completed.
    • 1:17 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of suspicious activity in a residence hall. Officers discovered an intoxicated and unconscious student in the hallway. Student was awakened and evaluated for alcohol poisoning. An ambulance was requested and responded in company with SFPD. Subject was transported to a hospital emergency room for treatment and was issued an underage consumption citation after becoming uncooperative with emergency medical personnel. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.

    • 10:53 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Possible Narcotics Violation.  Officers were dispatched to a residence hall to investigate a report of a marijuana odor in a hallway. Officers confirmed the odor of marijuana but were unable to identify the specific source. Incident report completed.
    •  11:25 AM - Tuve Hall, 1109 W. 28th Street.  Possible Narcotics Violation.  Officers investigating a fire system trouble alarm in a campus residential building detected what appeared to be the odor of marijuana in a laundry room. No subjects were located in the area. Incident report completed.

    • 1:14 AM - 2131 S. Grange Avenue.  Disorderly Conduct / Drunkenness.  Officer attempted to make contact with a group of intoxicated males creating a noise disturbance on campus. Subjects became disorderly and confronted the officer. SFPD back-up requested and the subjects fled into the house at 2131 S. Grange Ave. One probable suspect identified. Incident report comleted and forwarded to College authorities for further investigation.

    • 1:15 PM - Norse Inn, 2409 S. Grange Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Offices wee dispatched to investigate an automated fire alarm in a campus residential building. Evacuation completed, SFFR found no smoke or flame and reset the alarm. Incident report completed.

    • 10:05 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  Student presented at Campus Safety to file late report of the theft of a cell phone from a vehicle parked on campus. Vehicle was reported to have been locked at the time. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

    • 10:40 AM - Kirkeby- Over Stadium, Medical Emergency.  Officers responded to a medical emergency after Rural Metro Communications advised Campus Safety Dispatch that an ambulace was being dispatched to the Stadium.  EMS transported an injured Student / Athlete to a medical facility for further evaluation.  Incident report completed.

    • 2:30 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S Grange Avenue.  Fire Aarm.  Officer responded to an active fire alarm.  A pull station alarm had been activated.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded.  No visible flame or smoke detected.  SFFR reset alarm.  Incident report completed.
    • 4:35 PM - Office of Campus Safety. 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Harassment Complaint.  A female student presented to the Campus Safety Office and reported that a coworker had been harassing the student on social media.  Incident report completed.  Student will contact SF Police and apply for a Protection Order.

Victim indicated he waited to report the incident because he thought some friends were playing a joke. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

System indicated a pull box had been activated. SFFR responded and determined there was no sign of flame or smoke. Building was authorized for reoccupation. Incident report completed.

    • 11:00 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Tresspassing.  Officer observed an intoxicated male in the Humanitie parking lot.  Officer made contact with the subject.  The subject was identified and was not an Augustana College staff member or a student.  The subject was asked to leave the Campus and the subject became verbally abusive.  Sioux Falls Police were contacted and PD Officers responded.  The subject was removed from Campus.  Incident report completed.

    • 3:20 AM - Campus House, 2405 S. Grange Ave.  Underage Consumption / Drunkenness.  Officer discovered an unconscious subject in the front lawn of a campus residential house. Emergency medical assistance was requested after officer was unable to wake subject for several minutes. Subject began to wake up, ambulance cancelled, SFPD arrived and issued underage consumption citation. Subject was subsequently released into parental custody. Incident report completed.

    • 5:39 PM - Madsen Social Science Center Parking Lot, 2301 S. Summit Avenue.  Theft.  A female victim of a theft presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a bicycle rack had been stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the Madsen lot.  Incident report completed.

    • 11:30 PM - Gilbert Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Public Intoxication.  Officer observed two intoxicated students one of whom was unable to care for himself. Subject had fallen against a fence and suffered a severe laceration to the head. Rural Metro Ambulance was called and responded along with Sioux Falls Police.  The subject was evaluated by medics and was advised to seek further medical attention.  Subject refused further care and was transported to a hospital emergency room by a designated driver in a private vehicle. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.

    • 12:42 PM - Center for Visual Arts, 2120 S. Grange Ave.  Vandalism.  A faculty member reported damage to a piece of student sculpture on display in the Center for Visual Arts. Sculpture was last known to be intact on July 20, 2014. Damaged was documented and an incident report was completed. Investigation continues.

    • 6:30 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th St.  911 Hang-Up Call.  SFPD and Campus Safety responded to a dormitory to investigate a 911 hang-up call. Building was searched without result. Incident report completed.
    • 2:28 AM - 720 W. 31st Street.  Driving Under the Influence.  Officer observed a vehicle driving erratically and at an extremely high speed on S. Norton Ave. Driver abandoned vehicle, fled and was apprehended and turned over to SFPD who took charge of the investigation. Driver was arrested and transported to Minnehaha County Jail. Incident report completed.

    • 11:15 PM - Center for Visual Arts, 2120 S. Grange Ave.  Narcotics Violation,  Officer conducting building checks discovered drug paraphernalia in an art studio. Suspect was identified and paraphernalia was confiscated. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
    • 12:24 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Ave.  Illegal Entry.  Officers requested by SFPD to assist in search for three subjects who fled from a nearby arrest scene. Evidence discovered that a subject entered a campus building through a propped door. Building was cleared by SFPD and Campus Safety. Subject was determined to have fled out through another exit. Incident report completed.

    • 11:25 PM - Duluth Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Ave.  Suspicious Activity.  Officer conducting building checks observed a security door standing open and while investigating discovered a student occupied apartment door standing open. The apartment appeared to be unoccupied and the officer observed in plain sight a beer pong table. The apartment door and the security door were both closed and locked. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.
