According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If the disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

  • 11:05 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Drug / Alcohol Violation.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of subjects smoking marijuana in a dorm room.  Officers responded and located the room where marijuana smoke was detected.  Officers made contact with the room occupants.  Occupants were identified.  Incident report completed.

  • 1:19 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Fire Alarm.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a fire alarm notification and dispatched Officers to the scene.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue also responded.  Students evacuated the building.  It was determined that a cooking accident had sent the fire system into alarm.  SFFR reset the alarm and students were allowed to reoccupy the building.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:30 PM - Edith Mortenson Center, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a student had passed out in the theater.  Officers responded and evaluated the victim.  It was determined that the victim would require an evaluation at a medical facility.  Ambulance responded and trasported the victim to Emergency Department.  Incident report completed.

  • 12:47 AM - Mikkelsen Library, 2117 S. Summit Avenue.  Unknown Subject.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of an unknown male subject that was cleaning.  Officers responded.  Subject was identified as cleaning staff working an unusual shift.  Incident report completed.

  • 01:37 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to an active fire alarm.  When Officers arrived they found that the fire alarm was in full alarm.  Resident had evacuated the building.  Smoke was present inside the building but no flames were visible.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the scene.  The building was checked and it was determined that a cooking accident had activated the alarm.  SFFR reset the alarm panel and residents were allowed to reoccupy the building.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:15 AM - East Hall, 2001 S. Summit Avenue.  Well Being Check.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a request to check the well being of a student.  Officers located the student and was safe.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:30 PM - Intersection of 33rd Street and Lake Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of a two vehicle accident.  Officers were dispatched to the scene.  Officers determined that there were no injuries related to the crash.  Sioux Falls Police responded and completed the accident investigation.  Incident report completed.

  • 9:55 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Theft.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a pair of boots had been taken from their room.  Incident report completed.
  • 10:43 AM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Well-Being Check.  Officers were asked to check on a student that could not be located.  Officers located the student.  The student was safe.  Incident report completed.
  • 12:30 PM - Summit Avenue near 31st Street.  Hit and Run Non-Injury accident.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that they had witnessed a car hit a parked car.  The witness had an Officer follow them to the accident scene.  Sioux Falls Police were contacted.  The witness identified the hit and run suspect vehicle.  The vehicle belonged to another student.  The suspect student was located.  Police issued citations.  Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Damage to window.  Officer heard a loud noise and went to investigate it's source.  A staff member was in the process of moving an object and the object struck the glass window of the door causing to window to break.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:35 PM - 33rd Street & Grange Avenue.  Bicyclist vs. Motor Vehicle Accident.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of an accident that occurred off Campus.  Officers responded to the location given.  Officers interviewed the bicyclist and driver of the vehicle involved.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Paramedics Plus and Sioux Falls Police arrived on scene.  The bicyclist refused medical treatment as he was not injured except for bruising on his leg.  SFPD completed the accident investigation.  Incident report completed.

  • 2:34 PM - Center for Visual Arts, 2120 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism.  Campus Safety received a phone report of a vandalism that was done to a students art work.  Officer responded and made contact with the victim.  Information was obtained from the victim.  Incident report completed.
  • 5:00 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Harrasment.  University staff member contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that they had information regarding the possible harrasment of students by unknown subjects.  Officer attempted to make contact with the students that were the target of the harrasment.  Campus Life representatives contacted and are aware of the situation.  Follow-up interview with involved students pending.  Incident report completed.

  • 7:10 PM - Menlo Annex, 1933 S. Menlo Avenue.  Vandalism / Trespass Notice.  Officer was on routine patrol when two juvenile males were observed walking.  One of the males had a broken lampshade on top of his head.  Officer recognized one of the males who is a suspect in a theft / vandalism that occurred on Campus earlier in the week.  Sioux Falls Police were contacted and arrived on scene.  The two males were issued trespass notices.  Parent of one of the juveniles arrived on scene.  The juvenile was released to the parent.  The other juvenile was transported to his home and was released to parents.  Incident report completed.

  • 1:45 PM - Madsen Social Science Center, 2301 S. Summit Avenue.  Suspicious Person.  Two students presented to the Office of Campus safety and reported a suspicious person.  The person was a male subject thought to be intoxicated.  The students gave a physical decription of the subject.  Officers attempted to locate the subject but was gone on their arrival.  Incident report completed.

  • 1:15 AM - Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Officer made contact with Sioux Falls Police Officer and requested they check on the status of a vehicle parked on a University parking lot.  SFPD later contacted Campus Safety Officer and advised that the vehicle had been checked and the vehicle had been reported stolen in June of this year.  The vehicle was impounded by SFPD.  Incident report completed.

  • 3:15 PM - Center for Visual Arts, 2120 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  The Office of Campus Safety received a phone report of art work that had been stolen.  Officer responded and made contact with the reporting party.  Information was recorded.  Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Drug Violation.  Officers were dispatched to Solberg Hall to investigate a report of marijuana being smoked in a dorm room.  The dorm room was identified and the occupants of the room were identified.  Incident report completed and forwarded to University athorities.

  • 12:24 PM - 32nd & Grange.  Theft from Vehicle.  Officer was dispatched to a vehicle jump start.  When Officer arrived the driver of the vehicle reported that his side mirror had been taken within the last couple of days.  Incident report completed.

  • 12:00 PM - Center for Visual Arts, 2120 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism.  The Office of Campus Safety received a phone report of vandalism being done in the paint room.  Officer was dispatched and several students were identified as being victims as their paintings and art equipment had been damaged.  Photos were taken.  Incident report completed.
  • 2:15 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Damage to Property.  Officer encountered a University employee looking at damage that had been done to a fence around the Baseball field.  Officer took photos of the damage.  Incident report completed.

  • 10:58 AM - Madsen Social Science Center, 2301 S. Summit Avenue.  Stolen Property.  The Office of Campus Safety received a phone report  of property being stolen from an office.  Officer responded and interviewed the victim of the theft.  Several books were stolen and valued at between $400 and $500.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:00 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2334 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  A student resident contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that the fire alarm was going off.  Officers and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the scene.  When Officers arrived on scene there was visible smoke coming from a lower level apartment.  SFFR arrived on scene and determined that the fire alarm was activated as a result of a cooking accident.  There was no damage to the apartment.  SFFR reset the fire panel and cleared from the scene.  Incident report completed.
  • 8:40 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Assistance.  Officers were contacted in person by a subject that reported that a male was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain.  Officers located the victim.  Officers evaluated the victim and contacted 911.  Fire and Ambulace arrived on scene and evaluated the victim.  Victim was advised by Paramedics that they should be transported to a medical facility for further evaluation.  Victim refused treatment and transport.  Incident report completed.

Duluth Avenue.  Criminal Damage.  Student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their vehicle had been intentionally damaged while it was parked at their residence.   Officer examined and photographed the damage to the victim's vehicle.  Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Staff member presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their vehicle had been struck in the parking lot.  Officer responded to the scene and recorded both driver and vehicle information.  SFPD also responed.  PD issued damage report cards.  Incident report compleded.

  • 8:36 PM - Terning House, 1919 S. Walts Avenue.  Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Accident.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of an accident involving three vehicles.  Officers responded and interviewed witnesses.  Witnesses reported that a vehicle had struck two parked vehicles and left the scene.  Witnesses were able to record the license plate of the vehicle that left the scene.  Sioux Falls Police were contacted and responded.  Police continue to investigate.  Incident report completed.

Summit Avenue.  Vehicle Vandalism.  A staff member contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a vehicle owned by the University had been damaged.  Officer responded and took pictures of the damage and filed a report with the Police Department.  Incident report completed.
  • 1:58 PM - Norse Inn, 2409 S. Grange Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers responded to a fire alarm activation.  When Officers arrived they were directed to the source of the alarm in an apartment.  Smoke was coming from the stove area in the kitchen of the apartment.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the scene.  The alarm was the result of a cooking accident.  SFFR reset the fire panel.  Incident report completed.
  • 9:20 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Well-being check.  Students presented to the Office of Campus Safety and requested Officers to check the well-being of one of their friends.  Officers made contact with the friend and they were safe and well.  Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Suspicious Activity.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a male subject in a vehicle had made contact with the student making the student uncomfortable.  Information was recorded.  Incident report completed.  Investigation continues.
  • 3:05 PM - Froiland Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Vehicle Damage in parking lot.  Student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that another student had pulled into a parking spot next to theirs and opened the door striking the reporting partys car.  Incident report completed.
  • 5:45 PM - Mikkelsen Library, 2117 S. Summit Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that they had struck a light pole in the parking lot.  Incident report completed.  SFPD issued a damage card.
  • 6:10 PM - Bersaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Well-being Check.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone call requesting that an Officer check the well being of a student.  Officer made contact with the student subject and was found to be safe and well.  Incident report completed.
  • 6:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Water Leaks.  The Office of Campus Safety received several phone reports of water leaks around campus.  Maintenance on call was notified.  Incident report completed.

  • 11:59 AM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Multi Motor Vehicle Accident.  Officer was contacted by witnesses of a vehicle driven by an elderly male had struck three vehicle while attempting to park his vehicle.  The driver and owners of the vehicles that had been struck were identified.  Sioux Falll Police responded and issued a vehicle damage report.  Incident report completed.
  • 2:00 PM - Kirkeby- Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Intoxicated female student.  Officers were called to evaluate a female student that was intoxicated.  Student was identified and was released to her sister for transport to their off Campus residence.  Incident report completed.

  • 9:15 AM - Granskou Hall, 2009 S. Prairie Avenue.  Vandalism.  Officer responded to a phone report of vandalism done to a day room window.  Incident report completed.
  • 6:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Reckless Driving.  Officer observed a student opperating a moped / scooter on Campus sidewalks.  Student was identified.  Incident report completed and forwarded to University authorities.

Grange Avenue.  Well Being Check.  Parents of a University student contacted the Office of Campus safety and reported that they were attempting to contact their student but had been unsuccessful.  Officers attempted to locate the student but were advised that the student had been located and no further action was required.  Incident report completed.

Prairie Avenue.  Inappropriate Behavior.  Three students presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a student residing in Granskou Hall was acting inappropriate in certain areas of Granskou Hall.  The subject was identified.  Officers made contact with the subject at Granskou Hall.  The subject was interviewed and counseled.  Incident Report completed and forwarded to University authorities.

  • 5:00 PM - 31st Street intersection of Summit Avenue.  Simple Assault.  Two students approached Officers and reported that a vehicle occupied by several male subjects had approached them and the subjects began throwing water balloons at the students.  Several balloons struck the students.  Incident report completed.

  • 2:04 AM - 1906 S. Menlo Avenue.  Drunkenness.  Officers were dispatched to a private residence to check on the wellbeing of a student that lived off campus.  Officers evaluated the condition of the student who was found to be intoxicated.  The student refused medical attention.  The student's roommates agreed to care for the student.  Incident report completed.
  • 5:15 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Public Intoxication.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a male subject that was laying on the ground.  Officers determined that male subject was not a student and was intoxicated.  The subject was very intoxicated and Officers called 911 for assistance to determine if the subject required medical intervention.  Ambulance and Police arrived on scene.  The subject refused medical attention.  Police removed the subject from campus.  Incident report completed.

  • 3:58 AM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Medical Call.  An officer was dispatched to check on the well-being of a student who was concerned about medical symptoms. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Paramedics Plus ambulance also responded and assessed the health of the student. Appropriate action was taken. Incident report completed.

  • 12:45 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Medical Call.  Officers and an EMT responded to a personal injury caused by a fall from a railing where the victim had been sitting during a football game. After initial treatment by an EMT, relatives declined further care and took responsibility for the victim. Incident report completed.
  • 1:18 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Medical Call.  Officers and an EMT responded to a report of a person falling ill during a football game.  After initial treatment by an EMT, relatives declined further care and took responsibility for the victim.   • 2:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Stalking.  Two students presented at Campus Safety to file a late report of a stalking incident off campus 48 hours earlier. While walking from a local business back to campus the students noticed that they were being followed by a a vehicle driven by a male subject. The subject pulled alongside the students and began making obscene suggestive remarks while video recording the students with his cellphone. Incident report completed and forwarded to SFPD.
  • 8:13 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Indecent Exposure.  A student presented at Campus Safety to file a late report of an incident which occurred approximately one month earlier. While walking along the perimeter of campus the victim reported that a male subject driving a car pulled alongside and asked for directions. The subject began to lower the volume of his voice so that the victim stepped nearer to the car to hear when the subject exposed himself. Incident report completed.

  • 5:45 PM - College Drive, Campus Area.  Indecent Exposure.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a male subject had exposed himself to the student.  The student had been running when the male subject asked the student for directions while driving his car.  When the student approached the car the male subject exposed himself.  Incident report completed as well as a Police report.

  • 4:20 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Vandalism to Vehicle.  A Campus Safety Officer was contacted by a staff member via radio that their vehicle had been vandalised while parked on campus property.  Officers responded.  Vehicle information was recorded and Police were called and arrived on scene.  Incident report completed.
  • 10:58 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2334 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Campus Safety and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm activation.  SFFR reset the alarm panel.  The alarm activation was a result of a cooking accident.  Incident report completed.

  • 4:30 PM - Stavig Hall Parking Lot, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident, Non-Injury.  Campus Safety Dispatch was notified a a two party motor vehicle accident in a dormitory parking lot. Officers responded and determined there were no injuries, interviewed drivers and documented damage. SFPD responded and issued red tags to both drivers. Incident report completed.
  • 6:50 PM - Olsen House, 1936 S. Walts Avenue.  Public Urination.  An officer observed a male subject urinating outside of a University residential house. Subject was determined to be intoxicated, identified and warned that his conduct was a misdemeanor criminal offense. Subject was instructed to return to his own residence. Incident report completed.
  • 7:00 PM - Menlo Annex, 1933 S. Menlo Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  An officer was searching for a reported possible injured person when he made contact at a University residential house because of suspicious circumstances. Upon contacting the residents the officer determined that an unauthorized party was in progress and was creating a disturbance. Residence Life was notified and determined that intervention was necessary due to unsafe circumstances at the residence. The party was dispersed and a large amount of alcohol was confiscated.  Incident report completed.

  • 2:25 AM - Froiland Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Trespassing.  An officer conducting patrol observed three male subjects with a ladder up against an academic building attempting to gain access to the roof. Subjects were identified and SFPD were requested to respond and assist in search for a fourth subject possibly on the roof or in the building. Roof and building were cleared. Incident report completed.
  • 3:37 AM - Elmen Center Parking Lot, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Suspected DUI / Violation of University Alcohol Policy.  An officer conducting patrol observed a stopped car in a University parking lot with the engine running and the driver unconscious behind the wheel. Officers woke the subject up and detected a powerful odor of alcohol. Subject attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle and again on foot, refusing to identify himself for Campus Safety officers. SFPD was requested to assist in the investigation. Subject was identified as an Augustana student and was released into University custody for transport to housing. Incident report completed.
  • 3:30 PM - Global Education House, 2001 S. Norton Avenue.  Campus Safety was advised of an active fire alarm in a University residential house. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Campus Safety responded and determined that bathroom steam was the likely cause of the alarm. SFFR authorized reoccupation of the house. Incident report completed.
  • 4:45 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2316 S. Dululth Avenue.  Bicycle Theft.  A student presented at Campus Safety and reported that their bicycle had been stolen sometime over the last several days. The bicycle was locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed and an investigation continues.
  • 10:40 PM - Tuve Hall Parking Lot, 2016 S. Menlo Avenue.  Violations of Student Code of Conduct.  An officer made contact with two subjects for directing obscenities at staff, failing to follow instructions, and dishonesty before University authorities. Subjects were identified and an incident report was completed.
  • 11:10 PM - Private Property, 2116 S. Norton, Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  A Campus Safety officer on patrol observed a party in progress involving large numbers of underage drinkers. Officers made contact with a resident of the house and warned against hosting minors as approximately three dozen guests fled on foot back towards the campus. Incident report completed.

  • 11:25 AM - Global Education House, 2001 S. Norton Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to a fire alarm activation.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue also responded.  When Officers arrived on scene ther were no sign of smoke or visible flame.  A cleaning crew had been cleaning the building prior to the alarm activation which may have led to the alarm activation.  SFFR arrived and attempted to reset the panel with out success. Electricians were notified of a possible issue with the fire system.  Incident report completed.

  • 8:00 AM - Center for Western Studies, 2121 S. Summit Avenue.  Theft.  Center for Western Studies personnel reported that two male subjects entered the CWS, split up and began looking through shelves of books and periodicals. Subjects left within a few minutes were described as behaving suspiciously as they exited the building. Upon checking the area where the subjects had been concentrating their attention CWS staff discovered that the interior pages of an antique atlas had been removed from the binding. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 9:35 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2350 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Campus Safety officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an active fire alarm in a University apartment building. Alarm appeared to have been activated by cooking smoke from the kitchen area. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded, reset the alarm and authorized reoccupation of the apartment. Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Theft / Attempted Credit Card Fraud.  Two subjects entered the Augustana Book Store and attempted to purchase gifts cards valued at $1,200.00 using a credit card.  Campus Safety was notified when clerks became suspicious. Subjects fled with two blank gift cards and the transaction was denied. SFPD responded and took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 10:17 PM - Edith Mortensen Center Parking Lot, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  False Emergency Callbox Activation / Verbal Harassment.  DCS Dispatch received an obscene call from an Emergency Phone Box on campus. Officers responded and stopped a group of seven juveniles ages 12 -17, identified the subjects and determined who the responsible person was. SFPD responded to complete the investigation and took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 5:34 PM - Diversity Experience House, 1923 S. Prairie.  Fire Alarm.  DCS Dispatch received an automated fire alarm from a University residential house and dispatched officers to investigate. Residents were evacuated and the source of the alarm was determined to be a cooking fire on a stove burner. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded, took appropiate action and then authorized reoccupation of the building. Incident report completed.
