According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If the disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

  • 10:57 AM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Suspicious Person. Campus Safety Dispatch received a report of suspicious persons attempting to gain access to a University apartment building. Officers responded but found no one matching the description. Security entrances were checked before officers were clear of the call. Incident report completed.  

Friday, May 20, 2016

  • 9:45 AM - Intersection of 33rd Street and Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident, Non-Injury.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a report of a motor vehicle accident and dispatched an officer to investigate. The officer confirmed there were no injuries and assisted with traffic control. A vehicle in the northbound lane of  Grange Avenue had made a left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle traveling south on Grange Avenue. SFPD responded and cited the driver turning left for failure to yield. Incident report completed.

  • 12:20 AM -  2408 S. Norton Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a loud party. Address in question was determined to be private property occupied by non-Augustana personnel. METRO Communications was notified of the complaint and SFPD was dispatched. SFPD took appropriate action. Incident report completed.
  • 12:57 AM - Coca Cola Bottling Plant, 31st Street and Duluth Avenue.  Suspicious Man.  An officer conducting patrol observed a suspicious man hiding behind a dumpster and made contact. Subject was identified and determined to be a transient and instructed to move on. Incident report completed.
  • 2:00 AM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Barking Dog.  Campus Safety received a complaint of a barking dog in a University apartment building and officers were dispatched to investigate. The dog owner was located and appropriate action taken. Incident report completed.

  • 1:40 AM - Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd Street.  Trespassing.  A officer conducting vehicle patrol observed a vehicle parked suspiciously in a parking lot. The officer made contact with and identified the subject who advised he was homeless. Subject was requested to move on which he did. Incident report completed.
  • 2:34 AM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Drunkenness / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers were dispatched to a University dormitory to investigate a report of an unconscious subject in a restroom. Subject was located, awakened and evaluated. Subject was returned to his room and Residence Life approved arrangements to have the subject monitored the remainder of the night. Incident report completed.
  • 3:09 AM - Diversity Experience House, 1923 S. Prairie Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  DCS Dispatch received an automated fire alarm from a University residential house and responded. SFFR was also requested to respond. Officers monitored evacuation of the house and determined the source of the alarm was cooking smoke. SFFR arrived, reset the alarm and authorized the house to be reoccupied. Incident report completed.

  • 11:43 PM - Bergaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Underage Consumption / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a noise complaint in a freshman dormitory on campus. Upon making contact with the occupants of the room it was apparent that a small party was in progress and underage subjects were consuming alcohol. Subjects made false statements and were uncooperative but then eventually surrendered the contraband containers. Incident report completed and forwarded to University authorities for action.

  • 7:46 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Underage Consumption / Alcohol Policy Violation.  A caller reported suspicious activity in a dormitory and officers were dispatched to investigate. Several students were observed coming and going from a specific room and upon contact officers discovered a significant amount of alcohol in a residence room. Several underage students were consuming alcohol. The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of and an incident report was completed.

  • 10:00 AM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism.  A resident of a University apartment building reported that the driver's window of their vehicle had been shot out by a pellet gun while parked on a public street. Incident report completed and investigation is pending. SFPD was notified.
  • 6:44 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Noise Disturbance.  A resident of a University apartment complex reported a barking dog in an apartment. Resident was contacted and instructed to removed the unathorized animal from the building. Incident report completed.

  • 7:30 AM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Accident.  Augustana Staff member called the Office of Campus Safety and reported their car had been struck by another vehicle while parked in the Elmen lot.  Officer responded to investigate.  SFPD also responded and issued a red damage tag.  Incident report completed.

  • 3:02 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  DCS Dispatch received a report of an intoxicated female in medical distress. Responding officers summoned SFFR and an ambulance and victim was transported to a hospital emergency room for treatment. Incident report completed.
  • 4:32 AM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Trespassing.  DCS Dispatch received a report of multiple subjects trespassing inside of the football stadium and dispatched officers to investigate. Responding officers made contact with three subjects leaving the stadium area, indentified and interviewed them. Incident report completed and forwarded to University authorities for review.

  • 11:36 PM - Intersection of 27th Street and Walts Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers conducting patrol noticed a large party in progress where 50 - 60 guests were in the front yard and the street creating a noise distrubance and leaving trash around the neighborhood. SFPD was requested to assist in dispersing the party. Incident report completed.

Friday, May 6, 2016

  • 11:36 PM - 1918 S. Prairie Avenue, Private Property.  Noise DIsturbance, Party.  Officers were notified of a loud party in progress in a house on the periphery of campus. Officers monitored the party until the growing number of guests, noise level and a small fireball was oberved and determined the party was disturbing the peace and safety of the neighborhood. METRO Communications was notified and SFPD responded, breaking up the party. Incident report completed.

  • 3:58 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of South Duluth Avenue.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of vandalism to a washing machine located in a University apartment complex. Tool marks were observed on the coin box indicating an attempt to commit a theft of the coins inside had been made. Incident report completed.
  • 4:32 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of South Duluth Avenue.  Possible Narcotics Violation.  Officers responding to a previous call detected an odor of marijuana in a University apartment complex and identified the likely source. The resident of the apartment in question was contacted and interviewed. Incident report completed.

  • 11:29 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to a fire alarm and responded along with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue.  When Officers and SFFR arrived they found that a alarm pull station had been activated.  The building was evacuated.  No smoke or flame was visible.  SFFR determined that there was no danger and residents were allowed to enter the building.  SFFR reset alarm panel.  Incident report completed.

  • 9:40 PM - 2400 S. Summit Avenue.  Fight Disturbance.  Officers were dispatched to a residence to investigate a report of a fight disturbance.  When the Officers arrived on scene they discovered two male subjects that were identified as being the subjects involved in the fist fight.  Police were called.  The subjects were identified.  The male subjects were not University students.  Police arrived on scene and the investigation was turned over to them.  Incident report completed.

  • 9:00 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Break In.  Student and Resident reported a break in of their room.  The room was un-locked.  Incident report completed.  Investigation continues.

  • 1:50 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Well-Being Check.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a request to check on the well-being of a student. Residence Life assisted and the student was located safe and well. Incident report completed.

  • 11:15 PM - 2001 S. Grange Avenue.  Fight Disturbance.  Officers conducting patrol observed two male subjects involved in a fight disturbance and intervened. Neither subject was affiliated with the University. One subject fled in a vehicle and officers made contact with the other to assure his well-being. Subject alleged that something was stolen from his vehicle. Fight suspected to be related to a narcotics dispute. SFPD responded and took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 9:24 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  A concerned parent contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that they had not heard from their student in a week and requested Campus Safety to make contact with the student.  The student was later found safe.  Incident report completed.

Monday, April 25, 2016

  • 3:50 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  A student reported the theft of $700.00 cash from a dormitory room. The room was unlocked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 4:05 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Hit and Run Vehicle Accident.  A student reported that their vehicle had suffered damage to the vehicle bumper while parked in a dormitory parking lot. Damaged was documented and an incident report was completed.

  • 1:10 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Public Urination.  An officer conducting foot patrol encountered a student urinating in public outside of a residence hall. Subject was identified and an incident report was completed.

  • 12:15 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Possible Vandalism.  Residence Life staff reported to Campus Safety that a glass door in an entryway had been broken. Responsible party was identified and an investigation into the circumstances continues. Incident report completed.

  • 8:25 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Fire Alarm.  University Building and Grounds workers advised Campus Safety of an active fire alarm in a dormitory. The alarm was inadvertently triggered by Housekeeping staff. The alarm was reset after it was confirmed there was no smoke or fire. Incident report completed.

  • 3:52 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Bike Theft.  Student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their bike had been stolen.  Information documented.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:10 PM - Morrsion  Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Personal Injury.  A student presented at Campus Safety to report an injury while working in the theater shop. Officers provided first aid and documented the injury. Further medical assistance was declined. Incident report completed.

Saturday, April 16, 2016

  • 10:30 PM - Schoeneman Apartments, 1417 W. 33rd Street.  Noise Disturbance, Party / Drug Law Violations / Underage Consumption / Disorderly Conduct.  Officers conducting patrol observed heavy foot traffic, including underage students, in and out of a University apartment building where a large party was in progress. Upon investigation a strong odor of marijuana was detected. Residence Life responded as officers were clearing the apartment. One of the residents refused instructions and became disorderly. Officers cleared the apartment of in excess of 90 guests. Incident report completed and forwarded to University authorities for action.

  • 10:02 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Slip and Fall Injury.  A resident of a University apartment building requested officers respond to a slip and fall injury in an apartment. Fall attributed to water leaking from a refrigerator. Medical assistance refused, response requested for documentation purposes only. Incident report completed.

  • 4:00 PM - Mikkelsen Library, 2117 S. Summit Avenue.  Suspcious Person.  Officers were dispatched to the library to investigate a report of a person behaving suspiciously. Subject was identified and left the library voluntarily. Faculty verified that his business on campus was legitimate and subject was released. Incident report completed.

  • 6:20 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Vandalism.  An officer conducting foot patrol discovered a damaged security entrance. The door frame was splintered where someone had attempted to force the door. Incident report completed.

  • 11: 30 AM - Humanities Center, 2120 S. Grange Avenue.  Vehicle Tow.  Officer observed a vehicle parked in violation of University parking policy.  The vehicle was cited.  The Officer discovered that the vehicle had multiple parking citations issued to the the vehicle and was listed on the Departments Tow list as a result of the multiple parking violations.  Jim & Ron's Towing was contacted and responded to the location.  Jim & Ron's removed the vehicle from Campus and impounded the vehicle at their facility.

  • 12:55 AM - Terning House, 1919 S. Walts Avenue. Break-In / Burglary.  An officer was dispatched to investigate a report of a break-in to a University residential house. Residents returned home to find the front door forced open. SFPD responded and initiated an investigation. Maintenance responded and repaired the damaged door. Incident report completed.

  • 3:56 PM - Bergsaker Parking Lot, 1109 W. 33rd Street.  Vehicle Unauthorized Entry / Burglary.  A student presented at Campus Safety to report a vehicle break-in on a University parking lot. The vehicle was ransacked and a flashlight was taken. SFPD responded and took a report. The incident was captured on security video which was turned over to SFPD. Video indicates suspects gained access through an unlocked door. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 1:55 AM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Graffiti Vandalism.  An officer conducting foot patrol discovered graffitti on the exterior wall of a University apartment building. SFPD responded to document the damage. Incident report completed and the investigation continues.
  • 4:07 PM - Heuther Tennis Courts, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Public Nuisance.  METRO Communications requested DCS officers investigate a report of a group of 10-12  juveniles climbing the tennis court fences. Officers dispersed the children and spoke with one of the parents about the children needing adult supervision while on campus. Incident report completed.

  • 12:00 PM - Edith Mortenson Center, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident, Hit and Run.  A student contacted DCS Dispatch to report that a vehicle attempting to park in a campus parking lot had struck their vehicle and then left without stopping to report the incident. A witness was able to obtain the license plate of the subject vehicle. SFPD responded, initiated an investigation and issued a red tag. Incident report completed.

Summit Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers responded to a complaint of a loud party in a University apartment building and made contact with the residents of the apartment in question. Residents were cooperative and agreed to lower the noise level. Incident report complete.

  • 6:25 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  A student presented at Campus Safety to report the theft of a wallet from a training room. Wallet was unattended and not secured at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.
  • 9:49 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  911 Hang-Ups Calls.  SFPD responded to the Commons to investigate several 911 hang-up calls. The caller was located and it was determined a possible technical issue was responsible for the calls. The owner of the cell phone was ordered by SFPD to turn off the telephone until the problem was resolved. Incident report completed.

  • 11:00 AM - Duluth Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Bicycle Theft.  A student reported to Campus Safety that a bicycle had been stolen from a University apartment complex. The bicycle was locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 6:21 PM - Hillsboro House, 2408 S. Summit Avenue.  Vandalism.  DCS Dispatch was notified and officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a broken window in a University residential house. Incident was witnessed by a passerby on Tuesday but not reported until Saturday. Subjects were described as several juveniles. Incident report completed and maintenance was notified.
