According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If the disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

  • 12:45 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Transport.  Officer observed an injured student sitting on the ground.  Injured student was transported to the Health and Wellness Center on Campus.  Incident report completed. 

Monday, March 30, 2015

  • 11:00 AM - Tuve Hall, 1109 W. 28th Street.  Bicycle Theft.  Student presented at Campus Safety to report the theft of a bicycle from a dormitory bike rack. The bicycle was not locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.
  • 12:00 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Student presented at Campus Safety to report the theft of a stereo and cell phone adaptor out of a vehicle parked in a campus lot. Vehicle was not locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.
  • 4:10 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2332 S. Duluth Avenue.  Theft.  Student presented at Campus Safety to report the theft of approximately $15.00 cash from inside of his vehicle. Door locks were not operating reliably at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.
  • 7:20 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Well-Being Check.  Residence Life requested the assistance of Campus Safety to conduct a student well-being check inside a campus residential hall. Student was located safe. Incident report completed.

  • 12:51 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Unauthorized Possession / Use of College ID Card.  An officer conducting foot patrol observed a student attempt to enter a dorm using another student's ID card. The student was identified and warned, the card confiscated and held for the owner. Incident report completed.
  • 1:01 AM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2340 S. Duluth Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  An officer responded to a complaint of a loud party and possible underage consumption of alcohol. Occupants of the apartment were warned, no underage guests were present. Incident report completed. 
  • 2:28 AM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Theft.  Officer was dispatched to a theft report of a fire extinguisher from a residence hall fire station. Arrangements were made for a replacement and an investigation initiated. Incident report completed.

  • 12:25 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Student Well-Being Check / Underage Consumption.  Officers responded to a request to assist Residence Life in assessing the well-being of a student. Student was determined to be in need of medical assistance and transported to a medical facility for treatment. Incident report completed.
  • 3:10 AM - Summit Apartments, 2420 S. Summit Avenue.  Disruptive Behavior / Underage Consumptiion.  Officers responded to a request to investigate an unidentified male subject pounding on an apartment door. Subject was unknown to occupants. Subject was identified, determined to be intoxicated and transported to his own dormitory. Residence Life notified and an incident report was completed.
  • 3:30 AM - 39th Street and Walts Avenue.  Fight Disturbance.  Officer conducting patrol on campus heard a loud disturbance from several blocks away and went to investigate. A physical altercation was observed in progress and DCS back-up was requested as well as SFPD support. DCS officers placed primary belligerent in restraints. Subject was intoxicated and under the influence of a controlled substance. SFPD arrived and took charge of the investigation. An ambulance responded and transported the subject to an emergency room for treatment. Incident report completed.

  • 10:09 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33RD Street.  Slip and Fall.  METRO Communications dispatched DCS officers to a residential hall to assist with a medical emergency. SFFR responded and provided emergency medical assistance. Victim was transported to a hospital emergency room for additional treatment. Incident report completed.

  • 7:55 AM - College Drive, 1100 Block.  Vehicle Break in.  Student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their vehicle was broken into and items were taken from the vehicle.  Incident report completed.  Sioux Falls Police responded and filed a report.
  • 11:44 AM - Tuve Hall, 1109 W. 28thh Street.  Well-being check.  The Office of Campus Safety received a phone request from a concerned parent asking to check on their student.  Officer checked students room and the student was located safe and well.  Incident report completed.
  • 6:03 PM - Green Overflow Lot, 1201 W. 28th Street.  Vehicle Break in.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of a vehicle break in.  Officer responded.  Several items were taken from the vehicle.  Incident report completed and Sioux Falls Police were notified and responded.

  • 12:20 PM - Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 908 W. 33rd Street.  Suspicious Subject.  OSL staff contacted the Office of Campus Safety by phone and reported a suspicious subject.  OSL staff reported that the subject may be related to a number of vandalisms that occurred at OSL and Augustana College.  Officers responded and located the male subject / suspect.  Officers interviewed the male subject and during the street side interview the subject fled from the Officers.  Officers gave chase.  The Sioux Falls Police were notified and PD Officers responded. The fleeing subject was subdued.  The subject was taken into custody and transported by PD to the Minnehaha County Detention Center.  Warrants for the subject were executed. Criminal Trespass Notice was given to the subject to stay off Augustana College property.  Incident report completed.
  • 6:07 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Well-Being Check.  A parent of a Augustana College College Student contacted the Office of Campus Safety and requested an Officer to conduct a well being check of their student.  Officer responded and made contact with the student.  Student was safe.  Incident report completed.

  • 8:00 AM - Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd Street.  Vandalism.  Officer took a report of vandalism in a church restroom. Damaged was documented and an incident report was completed. 
  • 8:53 PM - Diversity Experience House, 1000 W. 28th Street.  Fire Alarm.  Officers responded to an automated fire alarm at a campus residential house and confiirmed evacuation of the building. Source of the alarm was determined to be cooking smoke. SFFR responded and authorized reoccupation of the building. Incident report completed.

Summit Avenue.  Vandalism.  Officer was dispatched to Madsen East after a report was made to the Office of Campus Safety of a vandalism that occurred at that site.  Officer took photos of damage that was done to the east wing bathroom.  Incident report commpleted.

  • 11:57 AM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Well-Being Check.  Officer was dispatched to check the well being of a student.  Student was found safe in their room.  Incident report completed.
  • 2:00 PM - Madsen Social Science Center, 2301 S.   • 11:00 AM - Gilbert Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Bicycle Theft.  A student presented at Campus Safety to report the theft of his bicycle from an academic building bike rack. Student discovered the bike missing after attending a class. The bicycle was not locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.

  • 4:16 PM - Diversity Experience House 1000 W. 28th Street.  Open Door.  Officer was called to a report of an open door.  Officer investigated and found that a padlock had been removed.  No forced entry visible.  Incident report completed.

  • 6:00 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Vehicle Damage.  Officers responded to a report of damage done to a vehicle that was parked and unattended.  Officers met with the owner of the damaged vehicle.  Vehicle information was recorded.  Incident report completed.
  • 9:05 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Suspicious Vehicles.  Officers observed vehicles drive into the south Elmen lot without headlights on.  The vehicles stopped and occupants of the vehicles met in the lot.  When Officer approached the vehicles the vehicles drove off.  Vehicles were identified and license plates were recorded and forwarded to Sioux Falls PD.  Incident report completed.

  • 7:15 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  An Augustana employee reported the theft of personal electronics from a maintenance work room. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 12:35 AM - Menlo Annex, 1200 W. 28th Street.  Noise Disturbance, Party / Drunkenness / Disorderly Conduct / Underage Consumption.  Officers observed a large party in progress at a campus residential home and investigated. Residence Life was notified and contact was made with the occupants. Unauthorized party was terminated and over 50 attendees were identified. Incident report completed and referred to College authorities for action.
  • 12:30 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Grand Theft.  A musical instrument valued at approximately $18,000.00 was stolen from a vehicle parked on a public street overnight near a campus apartment complex. Vehicle door lock may not have been operating at the time.  SFPD responded and intiated an investigation. Incident report completed.
  • 1:20 PM - Summit Avenue Apartments, 2420 S. Summit Avenue.  Theft.  Student presented at the Campus Safety office to report the theft of personal items from his vehicle while parked on a public street overnight near a campus apartment building. Several of the missing items were discovered nearby by a passerby and reported to the victim. SFPD responded and initiated an investigation regarding a still missing iPad. Incident report completed.

  • 12:44 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Unauthorized Entry / Underage Consumption.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a male attempting to gain unauthorized access to a dormitory. Subject was located and identified. Alcohol was confiscated and subject was directed to return to his own dormitory. Incident report completed.
  • 3:20 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Personal Injury.  A late report was filed of an injury from the previous day to a spectator attending a basketball game. A spectator slipped and fell while descending the bleachers and fell on a second spectator. Incident report completed.
  • 11:25 PM - Elmen Center Parking Lot, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Driving Under the Influence.  Officer observed the driver of a vehicle behaving suspiciously while parked in a campus parking lot. When officer attempted to make contact the subject attempted to drive away before being stopped. Driver appeared to be intoxicated and open containers were observed in the vehicle. SFPD responded and after subject failed field sobriety tests and he was arrested for DUI and transported to the Minnehaha County Jail. Incident report completed.
  • 11:44: PM - Humanities Center, 2120 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  Officers responded to a report of an unconscious subject found outside of the Humanities Center. Subject had recently suffered a head injury during sports activity. SFPD, SFFR and ambulance responded. Subject was transported to a hospital emergency room for further treatment. Incident report completed.

  • 1:58 AM - Public Property Near Intersection of 33rd Street and Grange Avenue.  Verbal Disturbance.  Officer conducting vehicle patrol observed a heated argument between a male and female on the public sidewalk and attempted to intervene. Male subject fled on foot and the officer made contact with the female. Female subject had accepted a ride home from a pair of males unknown to her after leaving a local bar. Subjects transported the victim to the Augustana campus instead of taking her home. Subjects allegedly attempted to gain sexual favors from the victim before forcing her out of the vehicle. Victim declined SFPD intervention. Possible subject identified and College investigation continues. Incident report completed.
  • 4:10 PM - 2400 S. Euclid Avenue.  Well Being Check.  METRO Communications dispatched DCS officer to assist SFPD investigate a report of unattended young children. Children were located safe and appropriate action taken by SFPD. Incident report completed.
  • 7:01 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Verbal Disturbance / Damage to Personal Property.  METRO Communications dispatched DCS officer to assist SFPD investigate a dispute in a College apartment building. Dispute was determined to be over the unauthorized possession of a computer and the destruction of the same. SFPD took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 9:32 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Reckless Driving.  Officer was conducting vehicle patrol when a vehicle suddenly swerved directly towards his patrol vehicle causing him to swerve sharply towards the curb to avoid a collision. Officer was able to relocate the vehicle and make contact with the driver at a campus apartment complex. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 8:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Bike Theft.  A Student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their bike had been taken from the bike rack in front of the Commons.  The bike was not locked at the time of theft.  Incident report completed.

  • 7:27 PM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Harassment.  Officers were dispatched to Stavig Hall.  When Officers made contact with reporting party they were advised that an earlier harassment incident was continuing.  Details of the current harassment incident were documented.  Incident report completed.

  • 10:30 PM - 2342 Duluth Place Apartments.  Noise Disturbance.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a noise complaint in a campus apartment complex. Residents were requested to turn down music and complied. Incident report completed.

  • 2:53 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Noise Disturbance / Intervisitation Policy Violation.  Officers were dispatched to assist Residence Life personnel in dealing with non-compliant subjects. Subjects were removed as necessary and an incident report was completed.
  • 2:45 pm - Intersection of 26th Street and Grange Avenue.  An alcohol related motor vehicle accident damaged a natural gas meter and forced evacuation of a College owned residential home housing Augustana students. Students sheltered from the cold on campus while utility crews made repairs. SFPD and SFFR authorized reoccupation of the homes several hours later.

  • 1:16 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Intoxicated Person.  Officers responded to a request for assistance with an intoxicated subject in a campus dormitory. Victim was assessed and arrangements to monitor overnight by Residence Life were made. Incident report completed.
  • 2:16 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Intoxicated Person / Underage Consumption.  Officers responded to a request from Residence Life personnel to assist with a ill non-Augustana student. Student was assessed and determined to be intoxicated. Arrangements were made to turn custody over to friends/relatives off campus for overnight monitoring. Incident report completed.
  • 12:15 PM - Lookout House, 908 W. 28th Street.  Well Being Check.  Officers were dispatched to locate and check the well being of a student. Student was located safe. Incident report completed.

  • 7:38 PM - 2400 S. Euclid Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  METRO Communications dispatched DCS Officers and ambulance to respond to a medical emergency at a College owned residential home.  Victim was treated by EMTs with Rural Metro Ambulance and transported to a hospital emergency room. Incident report completed.
  • 11:07 PM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Officers responded to a request for urgent assistance regarding a harassment / bullying incident. The scene was secured and the victim and witnesses were interviewed. Incident report comlpleted and an investigation continues.

  • 11:00 PM - 1400 West 33rd Street.  Suspicious Person / Harassment.  Officers responded to a report that a student was being verballly harassed by a suspicious male, approximate age 40. SFPD responded and made contact at the house where the subject resides. Incident report completed and investigation continues
  • 2:03 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 W. 28th Street.  Well Being Check.  Officers were dispatched to Granskou Hall to conduct a well being check on an Augustana student. Student self reported safe and well after learning that friends were looking for her. Incident report completed.

Student was escorted back to his dormitory where Residence Life was notified and arranged to monitor him the remainder of the night. Incident report completed.

  • 11:10 PM - Duluth Apartments, 2324 S. Duluth Avenue.  Noise Disturbance.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a noise complaint in a campus apartment complex. Source of the loud music was located and the residents of the apartment were warned. Residents were fully cooperative. Incident report completed.

  • 10:23 AM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Suspcious Person.  Officers responded to investigate a report of a man behaving suspiciously outside of the Elmen Center. Subject was located, identified, interviewed and determined to be practicing marital arts techniques. Incident report completed.

  • 8:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft.  A theft was reported to the Office of Campus Safety.  An Officer responded to the location of the theft.  A preliminary investigation was conducted.  Subjects were interviewed.  A suspect was identified.  Incident report completed.  Investigation continues.

  • 9:00 PM - Diversity Experience House,1000 W. 28th Street.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to a fire alarm.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue also responded.  Officers discovered smoke in the kitchen area of the residence.  A cooking accident was the cause of the alarm activation.  SFFR reset the alarm and cleared the residence for the occupants to return.  Incident report completed.

  • 12:35 PM - 31st Street & Grange Avenue.  Non-Injury Motor Vehicle Accident.  Officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident adjacent to campus. Driver lost control and struck a parked car due to excessive speed. A passenger reportedly fled the scene on foot. SFPD responded and took charge of the investigation. Incident report completed.

  • 1:15 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Possible DUI / Intoxicated Subject.  Officers observed a vehicle driving erratically in the campus neighborhood and then park along Grange Avenue. An intoxicated male passenger exited the vehicle and attempted to gain access to Solberg Hall. Officers made contact and attempted to identify the subject who refused to cooperate and left the area on foot. Subject was last seen leaving the area on foot. Incident report completed.
  • 4:58 PM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Student contacted METRO 911 Communications requesting emergency medical assistance. METRO dispatched DCS officers and an ambulance to assist. Victim was suffering difficulty breathing and was assessed by EMTs. Victim declined ambulance transport and elected to be transported to a hospital emergency room by friends in a private vehicle. Incident Report completed.

  • 2:51 AM - Odin House, 2316 S. Summit Avenue.  Illegal Entry / Drunkenness.  Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male entering a college residential house without permission. Subject was escorted out of the house by DCS Officers and cited for Underage Consumption by SFPD and released to the custody of his College housing roommate. Incident report completed.
  • 6:00 PM - Mortensen Center, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Medical Call.  Officers responded to a request for assistance for an ill employee. SFFR responded and assessed victim who refused ambulance transport to the hospital. Victim was transported to the emergency room by a relative. Incident report completed.

  • 12:40 PM - Diversity Experience House, 1000 W. 28th Street.  Fire Alarm.  Officer was dispatched to a fire alarm.  When Officer arrived on scene there was visible smoke in the kitchen area.  Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue responded.  The alarm was activated as a result of a cooking accident.  SFFR reset the fire panel.  Incident report completed.
  • 2:45 PM - Stavig Hall, 1101 W. 28th Street.  Suspicious Subject.  Officer was called to check on a subject that was in Stavig Circle in a motor vehicle that was looking for a student.  Subject was identified and was instructed not to return to campus.  Incident report completed.

  • 4:00 AM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Missing Person.  METRO Communications requested assistance from Campus Safety officers in locating a missing person. A search of the campus and surrounding neighborhood was conducted without result. Incident report completed.
  • 4:00 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2316 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers responded to an automated fire alarm in a campus apartment complex. Source of alarm determined to be cooking smoke. SFFR also responded and authorized reoccupation of the building. Incident report completed.

  • 1:22 AM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Vandalism.  DCS Dispatch observed two male subjects defacing a statue in the Commons Circle and dispatched officers to investigate. Subjects fled on foot into Solberg Hall. Investigation continues as video is reviewed to identify subjects. Incident report completed.
  • 3:10 AM - Tuve Hall, 1109 W. 28th Street.  Intoxicated Person.  METRO Communications dispatched DCS officers to search for an intoxicated subject unaffiliated with the College who reported she was lost on campus. Subject was located safe and well and turned over to SFPD who provided further assistance. Incident report completed.
  • 11:46 PM - 1924 S. Walts Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party / Drunkenness.  SFPD terminated a large house party at a private residence just off the Augustana campus. Two citations issued and tenants were warned further violations wouild result in arrests for maintaining a public nuisance. DCS officers monitored the return of several dozen intoxicated subjects to residence halls without further serious disturbance. Incident report completed.

  • 7:15 PM - 33rd Street and Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Campus Safety Officer on routine patrol observed a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 33rd Street and Grange Avenue.  Officer determined that there were non-life threatening injuries.  EMS and Police were contacted and responded to the scene.  The SFPD took charge of the incident scene while Campus Safety provided traffice control.  An injured passenger was transported to a medical facility via private vehicle for further treatment and evaluation.  Incident report completed.

  • 12:05 AM - Granskou Hall 1025 W. 28th Street.  Missing Person.  A subject presented to the Office of Campus Safety and filed a missing person report.  Officers and Sioux Falls Police searched the campus of Augustana College for the subject of the missing person report.  Officers searched for the missing person for six hours until the missing person was located near Campus. The person was safe.  Incident report completed.

  • 10:05 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  Residence Life requested assistance from Campus Safety Officers after an intoxicated male broke a large pane of glass and two students suffered cuts. One student was transported by ambulance to a hospital emergency room for treatment and the second was treated at the scene. One Underage Consumption citation issued by SFPD. Residence Life established a plan to monitor intoxicated subject through the night. Incident report completed.
