According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

  • 9:51 AM - Summit Apartments, 2420 South Summit Avenue.  Vandalism.  Officer investigated a report of a broken window in a campus apartment complex. Evidence of a broken bottle identified beneath the window. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.

  • 9:37 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 West 33rd Street.  Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officer observed a group engaged in suspicious activity in a dormitory parking lot. Subjects fled inside the dormitory. An abandoned backpack was discovered underneath a vehicle. Backpack contained alcohol. Owner was identified and an incident report was completed.
  • 4:53 PM - Global Education House, 2000 Block of South Norton Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers responded to an automated alarm indicating a possible fire in a campus residential house. Evacuation confirmed and SFFR responded and authorized reoccupation of the building. Alarm determined to be caused by a build-up of steam in a bathroom. Incident report completed.

  • 6:43 PM - Off Campus, 2408 S. Summit Avenue.  Hit & Run.  Student contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a vehicle may have collided with a parked car on Summit Avenue.  The suspect vehicle left the scene.  Officers responded to the scene.  The reporting student gave a description of the suspect vehicle to Officers.  Sioux Falls Police responded and took over the investigation.  Incident report completed.

  • 8:18 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2334 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Student contacted the Office of Campus Safety and reported that the fire alarm had activated.  Officers responded.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue also responded.  A cooking accident had set the alarm off.  SFFR reset the alarm panel.  Incident report completed.

  • 1:40 AM - East Hall, 2001 South Summit Avenue.  Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers made contact with an intoxicated subject, alcohol was confiscated and disposed of. Incident report completed.
  • 1:46 AM - East Hall, 2001 South Summit Avenue.  Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers made contact with three intoxicated subjects, alcohol was confiscated and disposed of. Incident report completed.

  • 12:10 AM - Madsen Center,  2301 South Summit Avenue.  Reckless Driving.  Officers investigated a report of two subjects illegally operating motorcycles on the campus green and forcing pedestrians off the sidewalk. Operators had fled the area prior to officers arrival. Incident report completed.
  • 2:35 AM - Schoeneman Apartments, 1400 Block of West 33rd Street.  Disorderly Conduct.  Officer observed an intoxicated subject behaving suspiciously in an athletic field. Subject was determined to be throwing unsecured chairs from pitching bullpen. Incident report completed.
  • 10:40 PM - Madsen Center, 2301 South Summit Avenue.  Suspicious Behavior / Providing a False Name.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of suspicious behavior near an academic building. A large group was observed, one subject detained while the rest fled. Subject provided a false name and SFPD responded to provide positive identification. Incident report completed.
  • 11:40 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Bicycle Theft.  Officers made contact with two intoxicated subjects riding a bicycle.  Subjects were determined to be in possession of the bicycle illegally and were directed to return it. Incident report completed.
  • 11:50 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Intentional Damage to Property.  Officers investigated report of a window screen being thrown from a sixth floor dormitory window. Incident report completed.

  • 1:45 PM - Intersection of 33rd Street and Summit Avenue.  Drunkenness / Disorderly Conduct.  Officers made contact with an intoxicated male who became disorderly. Subject was warned and escorted until clear of the campus. Incident report completed.

  • 9:00 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Intentional Damage to Property. Officer took a late report of subject(s) damaging furnishings in a dormitory day room and throwing parts out of a 6th floor window. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 7:00 PM - East Hall, 2001 South Summit Avenue.  Wellbeing Check.  Officers responded to a parental request for assistance in locating a student. Student was located safe and well. Incident report completed.

  • 9:50 AM - Madsen Social Science Center, 2301 S. Summit Avenue.  Warrant Executed by Arrest.  The Office of Campus Safety was contacted by the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office Warrant Task Force regarding a active felony warrant for a current Augustana College student.  Campus Safety Officers assisted Deputies in locating the student.  The arrest warrant was executed.  Deputies transported the student to the Minnehaha County Detention Center.  Incident report completed.

  • 11:30 AM - Diversity Experience House, 1000 Block of West 28th Street.  Confiscation of Drug Paraphernalia.  During routine maintenance drug paraphernalia was discovered in a campus residential house. Paraphernalia was confiscated by DCS. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 7:48 PM - Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 909 West 33rd Street.  911 Hang-Up Call.  DCS officers were dispatched by Metro Communications to investigate a 911 hang-up call.  SFPD also responded and building was searched without locating the caller. Incident report completed.

  • 1:20 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street. Intentional Damage to Property. Officer responded to a report of a window screen having been kicked out of an upper floor window and damaged. Incident report completed.
  • 1:28 AM - Summit Apartments, 2420 South Summit Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officer observed security doors being propped and heavy foot traffic in and out of a college apartment complex. A loud party was discovered in the building and occupants were contacted and warned. Guests in excess of College policy were dispersed. Incident report completed.    
  • 1:50 PM - Academy House, 2300 Block of South Summit Avenue.  Theft.  Officer responded to take a report of a campus sign being stolen from a residential house. Incident report completed.
  • 6:12 PM - Nelson Service Center, 1201 West 28th Street.  Motor Vehicle Theft.  Officers were dispatched by SFPD to assist in locating a stolen vehicle believed abandoned in the campus neighborhood. Vehicle was located and SFPD responded and recovered the vehicle. Incident report completed.

  • 7:30 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 South Grange.  Assault Report.  Officers responded to a late report of an assault during a basketball tournament. Victim and witnesses interviewed and an incident report was completed. Investigation continues to pend.
  • 9:51 PM - Humanities Center, 2120 South Grange Avenue.  Officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly on pedestrian sidewalk. Vehicle was later located, cited and the driver identified. SFPD notified, responded and took appropriate action. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 12:13 AM - Mikkelsen Library, 2117 South Summit Avenue.  Suspicious Person.  Officer was dispatched to investigate a report of a man attempting to enter an owner occupied vehicle in the library parking lot. Student was able to lock the door and the subject fled on foot. SFPD was notified and an incident report was completed.
  • 10:50 PM - Schoeneman Apartments, 1400 Block of West 33rd Street.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers observed a large and noisy gathering in campus apartment complex and made contact with the occupants. Guests in excess of College policy were directed to leave. Incident report completed.

  • 2:45 PM - Intersection of 30th Street and South Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Non-injury accident as a vehicle exited Augustana Campus and was struck by a vehicle driving north on Grange Avenue. SFPD responded and issued red tags. Incident report completed.
  • 8:45 PM - Gilbert Science Center, 2407 South Summit Avenue.  Trespassing.  Officer observed four male subjects riding BMX bicycles exhibition style in violation of College policy and city ordinance. Subjects were escorted off campus and an incident report completed.

  • 11:55 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  911 Hang-Up.  Officer responded to a 911 call.  Upon arrival no subjects were near the phone where the 911 call originated.  Sioux Falls Police also responded.  Incident report completed.

  • 4:00 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue. Property Damage.  Officer responded to a report of a vehicle sustaining damage in the parking lot of the Elmen Center.  Officer was advised by the vehicle owner that the damage was not intentional and that high winds may have contributed to the window of the vehicle being broken.  Incident report completed.

  • 5:30 PM - Edith Mortenson Center, 2112 South Grange Avenue.  Exhibition / Reckless Driving.  Officer observed a motorcyclist operating his vehicle on campus in a reckless manner and made contact. Alcohol was not a factor. Driver was warned and an incident report was completed and forwarded to College authorities.
  • 10:36 PM - Edith Mortenson Center, 2112 South Grange Avenue.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject stumbling across campus. Subject was located, identified and a breath test was administered substantiating the report. Subject was transported to his dormitory and Residence Life arranged to monitor overnight. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.

  • 7:30 PM - Mikkelson Library, 2117 South Summit Avenue.  Vandalism.  Officer conducting foot patrol discovered graffiti vandalism on an exterior wall of the library. Incident report completed and investigation continues.   
  • 8:58 PM - Humanities Center, 2120 South Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Metro Communications dispatched SFPD and Campus Safety to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident in an academic parking lot on campus. Officers arrived and determined it was a non-injury accident, documented circumstances and minor damage. Insurance information was exchanged and SFPD issued red tags. Incident report completed.

  • 1:05 PM - Sioux Falls Seminary, 2100 South Summit Avenue.  Well-Being Check.  Officer responded to a request to check well-being of a visitor. Appropriate action taken. Incident report completed.
  • 2:40 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 South Grange Avenue.  Trespassing.  Officers responded to a report of a previously trespassed subject returning to the Augustana College campus. Subject was located and directed off campus. Incident report completed.
  • 11:13 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Well-Being Check.  Officers responded to a request to check the well-being of a student. Student was located and appropriate action taken. Incident report completed.

  • 12:12 AM - Stavig Hall, 1101 West 28th Street.  Disorderly Conduct.  Officers responded to a report of intoxicated and disorderly subjects verbally harassing students near a residence hall. Witnesses indicated a large group of visiting basketball tournament players responsible. Incident report completed.
  • 1:41 PM - Costello Hall, 2413 South Grange Avenue.  Smoke Alarm.  Officer responded to a report of an active smoke alarm in a campus residential complex. Alarm located and determined to be malfunctioning. Issue was immediately corrected. Incident report completed.

  • 7:58 PM - Elmen Center, 2505 South Grange Avenue.  Medical Emergency.  Officers responded to a report of a possibly hypothermic subject wandering in the Elmen Center. Subject was located and assessed to be suffering from initial stages of frostbite and hypothermia. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded and assessed subject who refused further medical treatment. A friend of the victim arrived and transported him off campus. Incident report completed.

  • 9:45 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 South Grange Avenue.  Theft.  A dining services employee reported the theft of an undetermined amount of foodstuffs from the kitchen. Review of security cameras identified four suspects. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 11:45 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of South Duluth Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers responded to a noise disturbance at a campus residential apartment complex. Contact was made with the residents and the party was terminated. Incident report completed.

  • 2:08 AM - Solberg Hall, 2312 South Grange Avenue.  Tampering with Fire System.  Officer responded to an automated report of trouble with dormitory fire system. Smoke detector unit discovered removed from hallway ceiling. Smoke detector replaced and incident report completed.
  • 11:39 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 South Grange Avenue.  Suspicious Vehicle.  Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle following a student vehicle into dormitory parking lot. Driver of suspicious vehicle identified and interviewed. Incident report completed and investigation continues.

  • 2:25 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street. Officer responded to a report of a hit and run accident in a dormitory parking lot. Description of striking vehicle obtained from witnesses. Damage to victim vehicle documented and owner notified. SFPD notifed and issued red tag and initiated investigation. Incident report completed.
  • 8:05 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of South Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officer responded to an automated fire alarm in a campus residential complex. Cause of alarm was determined to be cooking smoke. SFFR responded and authorized apartment to be reoccupied and reset fire alarm. Incident report completed.
  • 8:42 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Medical Transport.  Officer responded to a request for a transport to hospital emergency room. Incident report completed.

  • 12:28 AM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Well-Being Check.  Officers were requested to assist in locating a student. A search of relevant buildings and parking lots was conducted. Reporting party departed to search off campus locations. Incident report completed.

  • 2:50 AM - 2304 S. Summit Avenue.  Drunkenness.  Officer conducting vehicle patrol observed an unconscious subject in a vehicle parked in an alleyway. Attempts to awaken the subject were unsuccessful and SFPD support was requested. SFPD arrived and the subject was transported to the Minnehaha County Detox Center. Incident report completed.
  • 2:50 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Drunkenness / Assault.  Officer conducting vehicle patrol observed a sixty-year old male on the ground semi-conscious and bleeding outside of a residence hall. Subject was determined to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself and SFPD support was requested. Subject alleged he was assaulted near the campus and stumbled onto the campus where he fell. Subject was transported home by taxi at his request. Incident report completed.

  • 1:23 AM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Well-Being Check.  Officers responded to a request to check the welfare of a student in a residence hall. Subject was located safe and well. Incident report completed.
  • 11:39 PM - 1500 West 33rd Street.  Noise Disturbance, Party / Underage Consumption / Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.  Officers observed a large party in progress and severely intoxicated subjects in the yard of a private residence. SFPD support was requested and 75+ subjects were cleared from the house including multiple underage students. Multiple citations were issued by SFPD. Incident report completed.

Friday, February 21, 2014

  • 12:00 PM - 2409 S. Norton Avenue.  Vandalism to Vehicle.  Student filed a late report of vandalism to a vehicle parked on a public street. The rear window of the vehicle was broken out and a piece of concrete was found in the rear seat. SFPD notified and an incident report completed.
  • 10:15 PM - Granskou Hall, 1025 West 28th Street.  Vandalism / Alcohol Policy Violation.  Officers responded to a report of a broken clock in a residence hall. An unidentified intoxicated male was observed punching a clock resulting in serious lacerations to the subjects hand. Subject fled on foot. Subsequent investigation discovered a large amount of alcohol in a residence room. Occupants identified and alcohol confiscated. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 11:16 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 South Grange Avenue.  Narcotics Violation.  Officers responded to a report of a marijuana odor in a residence hall. Officers were able to identify the specific origin of the odor and a suspect identified.  Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.

  • 1:08 AM - Stavig /  Granskou Dormitory Parking, 28th St. and Menlo Ave.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  Officer responded to a report of a non-injury motor vehicle accident as a result of icy conditions. SFPD was notified and red tags were issued. Incident report completed.
  • 12:50 PM - Gilbert Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Medical Welfare Check.  Officer responded to a faculty call for assistance on behalf of an ill student. Victim was assessed and transported to student health clinic for follow-up treatment. Incident report completed.

  • 12:30 AM - Summit Apartments, 2420 S. Summit Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  Officers on patrol observed heavy foot traffic in and out of a campus residential apartment building and discovered a disorderly party in progress. Residence Life responded in company with officers and terminated the party which included drinking games. Subjects were identified and an incident report was completed and forwarded to College authorities.
  • 2:20 AM - Solberg Hall Parking Lot, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  Officer on patrol observed three subjects, one of which was engaged in disorderly conduct. Officer made contact, identified the subjects and escorted them to their dormitory. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities for action.
  • 2:24 AM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Drunkenness / Underage Consumption.  Officer responded to a request from Residence Life for assistance with an ill student. Student was assessed and determined to be intoxicated. Residence Life monitored student throughout the remainder of the night. Incident report completed and forwarded to College authorities.
  • 12:12 PM - Costello Apartments, 2413 S. Grange Avenue.  Smoke Report.  Officer responded to a report of possible marijuana smoke in a campus apartment building. Officer located the source of the smoke and determined it to be tobacco smoke. Resident was was warned of no smoking policy. Incident report completed.
