Paul Rohde holds a BA and MA from South Dakota State University. He completed a Masters of Divinity at Luther Theological Seminary and is an ordained pastor in the ELCA. He recently earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Paul also holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato, Minn. Prior to coming to Augustana College in 2001, Rohde served congregations in New Ulm, Minn.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Lake Preston, S.D. He has been a leader on the Board of Directors for Holden Village, Chelan, Wash., since 1998. Paul and his wife Susan have three daughters. He enjoys reading, hiking, camping, biking, gardening and traveling.

Pastor Ann is 2004 graduate of Augustana. She received a Master of Divinity degree and Master of Arts (Youth Ministry) degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Ann participated in a two-year Pastoral Residency program at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa, and served as Associate Pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls before being called to the Augustana community in 2012. Some of Ann’s deep passions and guilty pleasures include Facebook-ing, road trips, dance parties, and Bible Camp. As an off-the-charts extrovert, Pastor Ann always welcomes visitors to her office, where she can often be found with her friendly Cocker Spaniel, Easter Lilly Rosendale, eager to greet you!

Carol has worked at Augustana for more than twenty years. She and her husband, Dick, have two children, both Augie grads. Carol feels it is a true privilege to work with college students as they integrate their faith and learning experiences. Carol loves to read and discuss books and enjoys her pets and 'grand animals.'

Marilyn Schempp

Marilyn Schempp is organist for the Chapel of Reconcilation as well as an organ and beginning class piano instructor, while also maintaining a private piano and oboe studio in her home. She is also the principal organist and assistant music director at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Marilyn received her bachelor of arts degree from Augustana College in both vocal and instrumental music, and her master of music degree in organ performance (with additional coursework in piano) from the University of South Dakota.

Anne Sechser is a 2001 Augustana graduate from Sioux Falls. She has worked for the Catholic Diocese as a youth director in the Sioux Falls Catholic churches since she graduated.

Fr. Kevin O'Dell
Catholic Chaplin for Augustana

Fr. O'Dell serves St. Nicholas Parish in Tea, SD, as well as serving as Catholic chaplin at Augustana. Fr. O'Dell offers confession at 7:30 pm and Mass at 8 pm on Sunday evenings during the school year. He is also available for individual counseling and spiritual direction.

2011-2012 Student Congregation Leaders

Each spring, students are invited to apply for paid positions that coordinate the work of the student congregation. The congregation then elects a president from among the staff who leads during the following academic year.
