Counseling services for Augustana students are provided by Sioux Falls Psychological Services, a comprehensive and multidisciplinary group of more than a dozen mental health professionals.

Students will receive confidential, short-term individual counseling or group therapy for a variety of personal issues such as adjustment to college, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and loss. Students may choose to see a counselor on-campus (Solberg Hall) or at Sioux Falls Psychological Services located on Summit Avenue, across the street from the Administration Building and Mikkelsen Library.

Class Days (Monday thru Fridays) ― Students are seen by appointment on weekdays during the academic year (fall semester, interim, spring semester) and during summer schoolwhen classes are in session

Vacation Periods (when classes are not in session) ―The on-campus office is not normally staffed with counseling personnel when classes are not in session. In the event of an urgent situation, students may contact Sioux Falls Psychological Services offices at 605.334.2696 (Monday thru Thursday during normal business hours and Fridays until noon). Be sure to identify yourself as an Augustana student. Non-urgent messages can be left on the office’s voice-mail system, 605.274.5552 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Cost ―There is no cost for full-time students (and part-time who have paid the student activities fee during the fall and/or spring semester). Students who require extended or long-term therapy may either be referred to other counseling services in the area or can choose to establish long-term or extended treatment plans with Sioux Falls Psychological Services. Counselors are available to provide assistance and advice with insurance and sliding scales.
