The Art of Roger Preuss
Wildlife of America Collection
The collection represents the work done by Mr. Preuss for the South
Dakota Conservation Digest in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The
pieces depict wildlife native to South Dakota. His publisher, Wildlife
of America, has published many of his works as limited edition prints.
Preuss has received over seventy awards and is the only animal artist to
be recognized in Marquis Who’s Who in the World. The honors bestowed
on this fine artist are made all the more special by the philosophy behind
his painting. In a quote for the Lutheran Layman, Preuss says, "Wildlife
has been my inspiration to be an artist, and an artist has to recognize
the Creator, the [perfectionist] of art. It is the key to all scenic and
nature art." Mr. Preuss passed away in 2007.
