Liz Thrond came to Augustana College from Walters, MN, as a freshman in 2002.  Given her interest in World War II, Holocaust studies, and film history, she quickly declared as a history major.  Over the next four years, Liz presented papers at several conferences and conventions, including the 36th Annual Dakota Conference.  She participated in the Veteran’s History Project sponsored by the Library of Congress, was a founding member of the Augustana Student Organization for Historical Studies, and joined Phi Alpha Theta.  Liz interned at the Center for Western Studies in 2005 under the direction of Dr. Harry F. Thompson.  During her internship, she assisted in the publication of A New South Dakota History and the compilation of Papers of the Thirty-seventh Annual Dakota Conference on Northern Plains History, Literature, Art, and Archaeology.  Liz graduated in the spring of 2006 with a B.A. and honors in history.  After spending a few years at Barnes and Noble, she returned to the Center for Western Studies in August of 2011 ready to rejoin the academic community.

Liz became Collections Assistant at the Center for Western Studies in August 2011.  In this position, she will work principally with the archives and Krause Library but also with art and artifact collections.
