TUTORING SERVICES

Peer tutors are available to assist students to improve their basic writing skills. Tutors will not do the editing, proofreading, or polishing for writing mechanics; instead, they will address problems with prewriting, drafting, revising, organizing, or any stage of the composition process. Tutors will assist writers in finding their own usage errors; they will also help writers feel more confident about editing and proofreading their own work. Students are welcome to drop in at the Writing Center or to make an appointment for regular tutoring sessions. Faculty members are encouraged to refer students to the Center.

CONSULTING SERVICES

Each semester the Writing Center presents a series of writing-related workshops focusing on language awareness, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, style, and research style sheets.

In addition, the Writing Center assists with a W-component faculty workshop. The 2011 W-workshop will be held May 25-26. The Writing Center staff are available for short classroom presentations. Contact us if you believe you could use our expertise.
