
The horse, introduced historically, provided advantages to the hunt. Mobility, speed, and maneuverability are capabilities added to the hunt of large and mobile animals. Their use in bison hunting has received greatest consideration.
The use of horses in hunting is the most likely source of an injury particularly associated with that period. This is a crippling fracture, probably the result of a horse fall where the rider's leg healed without being reset, resulting in an acute angle in the shaft of the femur.
