| A lecture course surveying art, i.e. painting, sculpture and architecture, from pre-history to the Renaissance (Survey I) and from 16th century Baroque to present (Survey II) dealing primarily with the developments and movements in Art of Western Civilization. Lectures and discussion augmented by slide illustration focus on analysis of artistic styles, the philosophical basis of form and content, the technical aspects involved in the creation of art, and how art relates to and reflects the society/period in which it is produced. | ||||||||||
