An emphasis on design continues in painting while learning to work with oils on paper and canvas. Students make remarkable progress aided by one-on-one instruction and group critiques given at the end of each painting due date. Some of the assignments target the push and pull effect of warm and cool colors, equivocal space, color schemes, and spontaneity while painting to music. With faculty guidance, advanced painting courses emphasize personal expression.
