South Dakota Investment Council
Kristin Palm, Class of 2003

My internship at the South Dakota Investment Council was a great learning experience. The main responsibility of the Investment Council is investing the retirement funds for state employees, as well as various other funds including the state checking account, and proceeds from the bond securitization from the tobacco settlement for education. As an intern, I was responsible for various projects including updating the international currency and international attribution models each month, creating an international portfolio update, updating information on supplemental mutual funds for the state’s retirement program, and researching companies. The Investment Council employees were great to work with, willing to work around my schedule, and interested in my long-term goals. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity!
