Entrepreneurship emphasisEntrepreneurship is an inherently interdisciplinary emphasis, since students will likely have a passion for opportunities in many different areas of expertise such as performing arts, science, literature, computer science, etc. Augustana’s approach to entrepreneurship will take students through the principles courses of business as a prerequisite so they have a core foundation to build their vision upon. Students will begin their studies in their sophomore year with Principles of Accounting and Business Technology & Communication. During their junior year, students will continue their principles courses with Management, Marketing & Finance. In addition they will also study Statistics, Ethics, Strategic Management and Human Resources. In their senior year, students will write a business plan in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurial Finance. In addition Augustana students will take other business elective courses to supplement their required course load. A liberal arts education is essential to develop perspectives know to be important for critical thinking and other skills needed by entrepreneurs. Courses in psychology, sociology, fine arts, science and humanities complement the curriculum students will study in their major in the classroom and experiential activities. Requirements: In addition to the Business Administration major curriculum, completion of the emphasis area requires 15 credit hours consisting of 3 core classes and 6 hours of electives.
