Marketing emphasis

Students interested in marketing goods and services will extend their studies beyond the foundational aspects presented in BSAD 310: Principles of Marketing. Students will focus on disciplines most common for marketing managers. Understanding market research and consumer behavior is pivotal in preparing marketing plans and budgets, and in-depth study of this important component will be gained through BSAD 411: Market Research & Consumer Behavior OR SOCI 350: Social Science Research Methods. Students immersed in the marketing emphasis will also concentrate their studies on marketing promotions (BSAD 413) and personal selling & sales management (BSAD 415), both important considerations as businesses develop market strategies that impact promotion and sales. Students also have the opportunity to delve into sports marketing and management (BSAD 440) and rotating emphases in marketing such as healthcare, direct marketing, and advertising (BSAD 410). All coursework is underscored through a final student learning experience: a marketing internship (BSAD 495), an independent study in the marketing field (BSAD 499) or an opportunity to consult on behalf of a local business encountering a marketing challenge (BSAD 490).
