Departmental Majors:AccountingTwo accounting majors are offered within the Department of Business Administration. The first is the four year accounting track. This track is designed to lead students into the world of private accounting or graduate school. The second is the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Accountancy. In 1988, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants approved a proposal that new Institute members have completed 150 college-level semester hours, including a bachelor's degree. This is a four and a half year program designed to meet those requirements. The program also meets the requirements of the State Boards of Accountancy, including South Dakota, who have adopted the 150 hour educational requirement to sit for the CPA exam. Business AdministrationThe business administration major offers a fundamental understanding in the areas of accounting, finance, management, marketing, and statistics. An individual becomes familiar with the languages of the business environment, and develops an ability to analyze and solve problems faced by the business administrator. Emphases in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Management, and NonProfit Management are available to augment the Business Administration major. |
