The Augustana Theatre major is intended to serve as a liberal arts' major which might be used in preparation for a professional school, graduate school, or one of many varied careers in the performing arts. The Theatre major seeks to provide a generalist background in all facets of theatre practice.

The Theatre Education major is intended to serve as a liberal arts and professional major which might be used in preparation for graduate school or in a career as a secondary theatre teacher.

THEATRE MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 37 credit hours is required. Required courses include:

* Theatre 095: Backstage Practicum (1 c.h. -- taken 2 times)

* Theatre 121: Acting I: Voice & Movement (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 125: Script Analysis (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 136: Stagecraft (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 137: Costuming & Make-up (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 215: History & Literature of Theatre I (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 216: History & Literature of Theatre II (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 220: Acting II (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 225W: Directing I (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 350: Senior Seminar (1 c.h.)

AND 10 c.h. OF ELECTIVES

ELECTIVES INCLUDE:

*  Theatre 234: Theatre for Community (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 236: Drafting and Rendering (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 237: Advanced Costuming & Make-up (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 320: Acting III (3 c.h.)

* Theatre 322: Acting IV (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 325: Directing II (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 336: Scenography (3 c.h.)

*  Theatre 340: Stage Management (3 c.h.)

THEATRE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Students desiring to teach theatre should add a Secondary Education major to the Theatre major. In addition to completing requirements for the theatre major, such students must complete the following courses:

Education 110, 245, 275, 310, 335, 340, 345, 355 and 470 or 474; Communication 110; Native American Studies 320; Mathematics 140 and Theatre 230.
