Our Mission: Augustana Theatre is a company of artists dedicated to exploring the values of the community, service and excellence within the Christian, liberal arts tradition.  Our focus on interactive theatre invites audiences to take an active role in the co-creation of their stories onstage.  Our motto:  Arts in the community and community in the art.

The Augustana Theatre Company is a community of faculty and students who regularly gather together to create excellent theatre and to celebrate their love of the arts.  Majors and non-majors alike are welcome at Augustana Theatre.  In fact, our company members come from all over campus - from biology to government, nursing, music or art - and are often involved in a variety of campus activities such as music ensembles, student government, residence life, athletics, or chapel.  Several teams are housed within the Company and work to create Augustana's Theatre productions.  Company teams include: costumes, outreach, publicity, sets, and tech support (lights, props, sound).

When Augustana College Theatre (ACTS) is not working, it is playing - at social gatherings, celebrations, retreats, and fundraisers.  It might be a Halloween Haunting, a dance, karaoke or a Dessert Cabaret.  An active chapter of the national theatre honorary Alpha Psi Omega annually initiates new members and APO sponsors social and cultural events througout the year.  Students interested in improvisation can join Augie's Improv Team and hit the boards "on the spot;" those with a taste for service can work with the Theatre Outreach creating original performance pieces designed to make a difference in our community.  Outreach performances have been seen at the South Dakota Summit on Youth Violence, area nursing homes, local churches, during Lenten and World Hunger Weeks and at special Chapel presentations.
