Debbie A. Hanson received her B.A. from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Her teaching and research interests include Western American literature, Native American literature, twentieth-century American drama, and folklore.  She has published articles in Southern Folklore, Midwestern Folklore, Encyclopedia of Folklore and Literature,and the first volume of The Willa Cather Yearbook, which she also edited.  In addition, she has delivered papers at conferences of the American Folklore Society, the Midwest Modern Language Association, the Mid-America American Studies Association, and at the International Willa Cather Seminar.
