NURSING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Several undergraduate scholarships are awarded to
students in the nursing major at Augustana College.
Nursing faculty nominate students
to receive nursing scholarships. Names of nominees are
sent to the college's Scholarships and Awards Committee
for final selection. Following is a listing of available
scholarships.
* Margaret Cashman Scholarship
The recipient must be a current junior nursing major,
have a good cumulative GPA, and have personal qualities
which exemplify "a compassionate feeling for the
needs of others."
* Dorann Christenson Nursing Scholarship
The recipient may be any person who has entered the
nursing program; could be given in any one of the four
years of the program.
* Nancy Meyers Freeman Nursing Scholarship
The recipient must be a student who shows promise as
a nursing educator.
* Mathilde Haga Scholarship
No criteria specified by donor.
* Howell Scholarship
The recipient must be a senior nursing major who has
demonstrated the following characteristics in clinical
nursing practice: 1) effective use of nursing process
in providing nursing care; and 2) positive influence
on the quality of nursing care given by classmates and
staff.
* Corrie Lykken Scholarship
The recipient must be a senior nursing student who is
"caring and compassionate" and demonstrates
financial need.
* Mortvedt Nursing Scholarship
The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be
a sophomore, junior or senior nursing major "who
shows outstanding qualities that will lead the person
becoming a competent and efficient nurse."
* Nursing Department Scholarship
The recipient must be a nursing major.
* Alice B. Olson Nursing Scholarship
The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be
a sophomore, junior or senior nursing major.
* Selma Olson Nursing Scholarship
The recipient must be a student in the junior or senior
nursing class who demonstrates financial need.
* Sissel Olson Nursing Scholarship
The recipient must be a senior nursing major who demonstrates
financial need.
* Ida Stordahl Quiggle Endowed Scholarship
The five recipients must demonstrate outstanding scholarship.
* Paula Ann Sagan Memorial Scholarship
The recipient must be a junior or senior nursing major
who demonstrates financial need.
Zeta Zeta Scholarship
The scholarship awarded by the Zeta Zeta Chapter of
Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society
is voted upon by the scholarship committee of the Zeta
Zeta Chapter. The recipient must be a senior nursing
major who demonstrates above average academic achievement.
