To study computer science is to study how to turn a computer, which is a box full of electronics, into a useful and usable tool for humans. Computers are being used extensively in the workplace and in many homes as well. Students who major in computer science are preparing themselves for careers in teaching, research, industry, and business.

To study computer information systems is to study the skills necessary to analyze, design, implement, and manage computer-based information systems. Completing an CIS major requires that you take a concentration of courses in computer science and a number of supporting courses in business administration.
