There are three Presbyterian churches on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Located in Oglala, SD, Makasan Presbyterian Church is where Lutheran interns affiliated with the Pine Ridge Retreat Center are attached. Makasan Presbyterian Church is also where retreat guests worship most often.
In August of 2006, I began my fourteenth year of living and serving among the Lakota people here on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It has been a life-changing experience and one for which I am most gratefeul. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is being able, through our new Retreat Center, to share this unique place with so many others.
