The mission of the Pine Ridge Retreat Center is to foster better understanding between Indian and non-Indian peoples and to make contributions to the life of the people living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. To accomplish this mission, the Retreat Center offers overnight accommodations to individuals and groups and structures outreach programs such as construction projects, educational experiences, and participation in youth ministry for guests.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) South Dakota Synod working together with the Dakota Presbytery(Presbyterian Church, USA) built the Pine Ridge Retreat Center in the summer of 2000.
