Vance Goldammer might not be interested in running a full-time speakers bureau for Augustana College and the Boe Forum, but those used to hearing from major players who have been on the world stage will be impressed with his first recruiting effort.

Thanks to the persistence of attorney Vance Goldammer, '72, those coming to the prestigious Boe Forum tonight will hear retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

It always is a tough act for the speaker to compete with past guests: Gen. Colin Powell, former President George H.W. Bush, former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, former First Lady Barbara Bush, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former U.S. Rep. Newt Gingrich, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Vice President Al Gore, former Mexico President Vicente Fox and his wife, Marta Fox.

 However, O'Connor will be a more-than-worthy addition to the group.
