    Delving into the Physical Mysteries of the Violin

    A seminar entitled “Raiders of the ‘Lost Secret’” begins at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, with Joseph Nagyvary (from Texas A&M) discussing the Modern Science and the Holy Grail of the Stradivarius violin. Prior to the seminar, at 6:30 p.m., violinist Christian Zamora will play in the GSC Pendulum Lounge.

    Augustana College's Writer-in-Residence, Dr. Patrick Hicks, will be reading his poetry on Saint Patrick's Day at Zandbroz Books at 7:00 p.m.  His work has appeared in scores of international journals, and he has been nominated several times for the Pushcart Prize.

    The artwork of Watertown, S.D., wildlife artist Joshua Spies will be displayed at the Center for Western Studies at Augustana College.  His style is known as photo-realism—original acrylic and pencil drawings that look just like photographs.
