Oct. 30: Reformation Day Concert, "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing"
The Augustana Choir, The Collegiate Chorale and Angelus, together with The Augustana College/Community Orchestra, will commemorate Reformation Day with a concert, "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing," on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 3:00 p.m. in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
This musical celebration of the Reformation will include works by beloved Lutheran composers. The Orchestra will feature Mendelssohn's last movement of the stirring Reformation Symphony, and Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze. Vocal selections include Knut Nystedt's Be Not Afraid.
The concert will conclude with a massed work, Vaughan Williams' Antiphon, which will be conducted by guest faculty member Weston Noble. Dr. Christopher Stanichar leads the Orchestra and Russell Svenningsen and Dr. Lisa Grevlos direct the Collegiate Chorale and Angelus.
Reformation Day marks the anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing of the Ninety-Five Theses to the door of All Saints' Church in Wittenburg, Germany on October 31, 1517.
Our Savior's Lutheran Church is located on 33rd Street, just south of the Augustana College campus.
