The Augustana Percussion and Keyboard Ensembles will present their annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Kresge Recital Hall, under the direction of Dr. John Pennington.
The concert will feature Bluegrass Bounce from Swedish composer Anders Astrand which combines bluegrass and jazz improvisation.
Senior Music Education major Matthew Tims, a Worthington, Minn., native, will conduct Daniel Montoya’s The Canyon for 13 percussionists.
Clarinet soloist Allison Michaelis will be a featured in Austrialian composer Nigel Westlake’s Malachite Glass for percussion quartet and bass clarinet.
The Northern Lights are explored in John Thrower’s Aurora Borealis on marimba and percussion featuring Matthew Tims as soloist.
The Keyboard Ensemble will present a tribute and memorial to alumnus Eric LeVan '81 with the inauguration of the new xylophone. The group will perform a tribute to Eric and his family with Ragtime xylophone selections from the 1920s and 1930s.
The concert will include the foot-stompin' Stinkin’ Garbage, a featured piece of the recent Viking Varieties production.
