Dec. 8: Christmas Band Extravaganza
As part of Christmas at Augustana, the Department of Performing and Visual Arts presents the Christmas Extravaganza, a holiday concert featuring the Augustana Brass Choir, The Augustana Band, and the Augustana College/Community Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Washington Pavilion in historic downtown Sioux Falls.
The concert will include the world premiere of a new Christmas piece titled Holiday Classics (volume one) by Augustana alumnus Jeremy Hegg.
The Augustana Brass Choir performance will include the following selections:
- O Come, O Come Emanuel arr. by David Marlatt
- Joy to the World arr. by Phil Snedecor
- The Christmas Song arr. by Philip Sparke
- Joyeux Noel by Alfred Reed
The Augustana Band performance will include the following selections:
- Christmas Winds Overture by Douglas E. Wagner
- Christmas Day Fantasy on Old Carols arr. by Larry Daehn
- Holiday Portraits arr. by Sean O’Loughin
The Augustana College/Community Concert Band performance will include the following selections:
- Festive Sounds of Christmas by Darren Jenkins
- Celtic Bell Carol by Robert W. Smith
- Good Tidings To All by Ed Huckeby
The Augustana Band and The Augustana College/Community Concert Band are under the direction of Dr. Bruce T. Ammann. The Augustana Brass Choir is under the direction of Dr. Paul R. Schilf.
Tickets are $12 for adults; $8 for seniors and students K-12; and are free for Augustana students and faculty. Tickets are available at washingtonpavilion.org.
