Of late, South Dakota's economy has been more vibrant than the economies of most other states. Unemployment rates, in particular, have been far lower than elsewhere. The reasons for South Dakota's relative economic stability will be addressed, with special emphasis on the generally salubrious roles played by the state's entrepreneurs, both its innovators and its numerous self-employed individuals.
