"Stills and Motion," a new exhibit featuring the works of photographer Xavier Tavera will open on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Augustana's Eide/Dalrymple Gallery. A reception is set for 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, with an artist's talk beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Students present on their various home countries at 3 p.m. on Fridays as part of the Rendezvous Program. The events, which are hosted by the International Program Office and Augustana International Club, are free and open to the public.
The Augustana Band and the Augustana Orchestra chamber ensembles will present a short concert entitled: “A Splash of Cool Music” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 3, in Kresge Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The Augustana Northlanders Jazz Band, along with bands from area high schools and middle schools, will perform during the 43rd Annual Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival, set for March 6-7 at Augustana's Kresge Recital Hall. Renowned American jazz trumpeter Mr. Allen Vizzutti will perform. The events are free and open to the public. No tickets required.
Augustana welcomes speaker Dr. Doug Bamforth, professor of anthropology at the University of Colorado-Boulder, on the topic “Making New Societies in Northeastern Nebraska in the 13th and 14th Centuries” at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, at the Froiland Science Complex 113A/B (formerly GSC 100).
Neil deGrasse Tyson, award-winning astrophysicist, author, and host and narrator of FOX’s "Cosmos," will speak at the Boe Forum on Public Affairs, set for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 20.
This spring's Augustana Academy for Seniors speakers are from Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota, local health care and education.
