In honor of the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation, the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery put out a national call to artists to submit works on the theme of “to reform.”  Artists were invited to contemplate broadly what this verb means and expresses: what does it mean to drastically change in order to improve ourselves, our institutions and our world?

The resulting exhibition features nearly 40 works by 22 artists from across the country. The artwork encompasses a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, photography, traditional arts, textiles, and an artist book.  The participating artists also responded with a wide variety of artistic styles, from contemporary installation and abstraction, to naturalism and traditional Lutheran symbolism.

The exhibit runs from Thursday, Oct. 19, through Saturday, Nov. 18.
A gallery reception will take place on Friday, Oct. 27, from 7-9 p.m.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
This exhibition is supported in part by grants from and Augustana University’s 500th Anniversary Task Force under the leadership of Presidents Rob Oliver and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.
