On Saturday, Oct. 10, members of the Augustana community will partner with the American Red Cross, the City of Sioux Falls, and the University of Sioux Falls on a Growing Resilient Project, an initiative designed to help local neighborhoods respond to disasters and reduce deaths and injuries from home fires.

Volunteers from AU, USF and the Red Cross will visit some 1,500 homes in the neighborhoods between 16th Street and 41stStreet and Spring Avenue and West Avenue. During the home visits, volunteers will install updated smoke alarms and perform blood pressure checks.

More details will be announced at a news conference at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Augustana's Siverson Lounge.
