  • Commencement Weekend

    Commencement events honoring the Class of 2013 will be held May 23-25 on campus. Learn more about the President's Social, Senior Celebration, the Reception for Civitas Graduates, the Nurse Pinning Ceremony, Baccalaureate and the Commencement Ceremony.

  • Summer Scholar Camp at Augustana

    Over afternoon sessions starting June 4, high school students of all ages will learn by focusing on relevant and compelling topics, rigorous content and test/college preparation. Space is limited; register today.

  • Nov. 8: State Department Innovator, Internet Activist Jared Cohen to Speak at Boe Forum

    Internet activist Jared Cohen, former advisor to Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton, author, member of the Council on Foreign Relations and director of Google Ideas, will speak at the 2012 Boe Forum on Public Affairs on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Elmen Center.

  • Nov. 4: Fall Choral Concert Event

    The Augustana Choir, the Collegiate Chorale, Angelus and the Chamber Choir will perform a Fall Concert Event beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The concert will mark the directorial debut of Dr. Paul Nesheim, associate professor of music and director of The Augustana Choir, the fifth in the Choir’s 90-year history.

  • Nov. 3: Spirit Squad Youth Clinic

    The Augustana Spirit Squad Youth Cheer and Dance Clinic will be from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. Cost is $35 per child (which includes a sweatshirt), and is open to children ages 4-12 years old. The participants will perform before the kick-off of the football game.

  • Nov. 2: Fall Band Concert at the Washington Pavilion

    The Augustana Band, under the direction of Dr. Paul Schilf, and the Augustana College/Community Band, under the direction of Mark Isackson, will perform a Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls. The concert will feature a solo by senior music major Emily Eichele.

  • Oct 30: Facing the Stranger — Engaging Other Religious Traditions

    As we approach Reformation Day, three essays by Augustana professors uncover the problems inherent in facing the stranger’s religious tradition. Join us to discuss them in an all-campus convocation at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Chapel of Reconciliation.

  • Oct. 30: Svenningsen, Stanichar Faculty Recital

    Tenor Dr. Russell Svenningsen, assistant professor of music and director of the Collegiate Chorale, and pianist Dr. Christopher Stanichar, associate professor of music and director of the Augustana Orchestra will present a free recital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Kresge Recital Hall.

  • Oct. 28: Orchestra to Perform Holiday 'Hauntcert'

    Tis' the season for the Augustana Orchestra's performance of “Hauntcert" — an audience favorite with spooky music and special guests set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The "Hauntcert" will feature "ghastly" orchestral works, including classical crowd-pleasers like Gounod’s "Funeral March of a Marionette" (made famous as the theme song to "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"), Grieg’s "March of the Trolls," and Berlioz’s "March to the Scaffold." 

  • Oct. 26: Premiere of "Somewhere Between" Documentary

    Almost 80,000 girls have been adopted from China by American families since 1989. The stories of four of those girls are the focus of "Somewhere Between," an award-winning documentary receiving its five-state premiere in a special showing at Augustana beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct 26.

  • Oct. 16: South Dakota to South Sudan

    Augustana and the Argus Leader will host a community gathering to discuss "South Dakota to South Sudan," a seven-part series by Argus Leader reporter Steve Young, featuring the efforts of Sudan native and Sioux Falls resident David Jal and others to rebuild the country. The event begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Kresge Recital Hall.

  • Oct. 16: An Evening of Poetry with Joe Wilkins

    Award-winning author and poet Joe Wilkins will present a poetry reading at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in room 123 of the Humanities building. A book signing will follow. The event is free and open to the public. A National Magazine Award finalist and PEN Center USA Award finalist, Wilkins lives in northern Iowa, where he teaches writing at Waldorf College.
