62nd Annual Scholarship Event
More than 400 endowed and annual scholarship recipients and scholarship donors came together on Sunday, April 6, to celebrate "achievement and gratitude" at Augustana's 62nd annual Scholarship Event on campus.
This year alone, Augustana students were recipients of support from 614 annual and endowed scholarships, funding based on area of study, academic achievement, financial need, geography and student diversity, talent participation (such as the arts and athletics), study abroad and more.
The event featured remarks by President Rob Oliver, Dr. Michael Mullin, professor of history and N.E.H. Chair of Regional Heritage, and Krista Youngberg '14, a business administration and sport management major from Sioux Falls (pictured at right).
Youngberg's talk centered on her collection of more than 100 Augustana t-shirts, each of which illustrated an event, group, cause or experience she was a participant in during her time as a student. Each t-shirt – and ultimately each experience – she said, was made possible thanks to the support of donors.
"It's a blessing, indeed, to join together our generous donors and our promising young scholars in celebration of achievement and gratitude," President Oliver wrote about the event.
