Theatre majors form the heart of the Augustana Theatre Company, a community of faculty and students from all majors who regularly gather together to create excellent theatre and to celebrate their love of the arts. Several teams work to create Augustana’s theatre productions: costumes, publicity, sets, and tech crew (lights, props, sound).
Many students also join Brand Name Improv, the theatre’s improvisation team, to further develop their craft. Department-sponsored events like the Claire Donaldson 8-in-48 Short Play Festival offer students the chance to showcase their talents for a variety of audiences.
Theatre majors are also instrumental in bringing exciting world premiere productions to campus, such as Ivan Fuller’s Eating into the Fabric about the 900-day siege of Leningrad during World War II. During this production, students worked with and learned from special guest director, Natalia Lapina of St. Petersburg, Russia.
