Hands-On Learning

All of our professors’ research involves undergraduate students, so you have the opportunity for real-world, hands-on, cutting-edge experiences with state-of-the-art equipment, theory, and projects. We’re currently involved in several ongoing projects in conjunction with NASA, the EROS Data Center, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and the University of NebraskaLincoln.

Plus, the computer science department’s Parallel Processing Laboratory is available solely for the use of computer science majors for instruction and research. Until fairly recently, parallel processing capabilities were unattainable except through time-sharing arrangements with large universities or government–sponsored research laboratories. With the support of the National Science Foundation, Augustana has established regional leadership in parallel processing.
