Employment of Relatives

You may have a relative who works for Augustana. In fact, employment of relatives is encouraged so long as potential conflicts of interest do not result. For that reason, the College must approve all work assignments of related employees.

Relatives cannot be assigned to positions where they have the opportunity to affect the work or influence the salary progress or promotion of another relative.

You should inform your administrator/Vice President if you have any relatives working for Augustana or if your legal relationship to another employee is about to change because of a marriage or divorce.

Relatives covered by this policy include your husband, wife, child, parent, brother, sister and in-laws (brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter).

To insure that no conflict of interest occurs, the initial hiring and all future work assignments of relatives must be approved by Human Resources and the appropriate Vice-President.
