Printing from your Computer – Windows 8 and 10 Instructions

If you already have PaperCut installed you will need to uninstall the old version before installing the new version below.  You will also need to uninstall any PaperCut printers you have previously installed.
 
Uninstall Instructions
  1. Click on the Windows Button (lower left corner).  Type Control Panel in the Search box.
  2. Click on Uninstall a program
  3. Search for Papercut and click to highlight.
  4. Click Uninstall to remove the program. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. Restart the computer.
 
Uninstall the printers
  1. Click on the Windows Button (lower left corner). Type Printers.  
  2. Choose Printers & Scanners from the results.  
  3. Click each Augie printer you have installed and choose Remove Device.
 
-----Start here if Papercut is not installed on your computer.-----
 
Install the new version
  1. Click on the “Desktop” Tile and then click on File Explorer. (Looks like a file folder) or you can search for File Explorer (just start typing when you are on the Tiles screen).
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer” or “libraries” or “quick access.” Delete anything in that box and then type  \\printers.augie.edu (Be sure to use the backslash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Open the folder titled “pcclient.” Double click the “win” folder.
  4. Double click the “client-local-install.exe” file and follow the instructions. Use your regular Augustana username and password.
 
Install the printers you would like to use:
  1. Click on the Desktop Tile and then click on File Explorer. (see above for help)
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer” or “libraries.” Delete anything in that box and type \\printers.augie.edu (Be sure to use the backslash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Now locate and double –click the printer you would like to install.
  4. Click on next and the printer will install.
  5. Go back to the list and install other printers you would like to access.
 
You are now able to print to the selected campus printers.
If you get an error or a blank page when installing printers - try this
  1. go back to \\printers.augie.edu
  2. open the pcclient folder.  
  3. Right click the file RestartPrintSpooler and choose “Run as Administrator”
  4. When finished, restart your computer and try the install again.

The printers are set up to automatically duplex each print job. This can be turned off for individual jobs by going to the print setup menu when you send the job to the printer.
 

Printing from your Student Computer - Windows 7 Instructions

If you already have PaperCut installed you will need to uninstall the old version before installing the new version below.  You will also need to uninstall any PaperCut printers you have previously installed.
 
Uninstall Instructions
  1. Click on the Windows Button (lower left corner).  Click on Control Panel
  2. Click on Uninstall a program
  3. Search for Papercut and click to highlight.
  4. Click Uninstall to remove the program. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. Restart the computer.
 
Uninstall the printers
  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Click on Devices and Printers
  3. Highlight the old printer.
  4. Click Remove device.
  5. Repeat for other old printers.
 
Now install the PaperCut client software
  1. Click on the Start button then click “Computer” on your start menu.
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type in: \\printers.augie.edu (Be sure to use the backslash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Open the folder titled PC Client then the win folder
  4. Double click client-local-install.exe and follow the instructions. When asked for your login and password – use your regular Augustana username and password.
 
Now install the printers you would like to use
  1. Click on the Start button then click Computer on your start menu.
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type in: \\printers.augie.edu (Be sure to use the forward slash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Now locate and double click on the printer you would like to use.
  4. Click on next and the printer will install.
 
You are now able to print to the selected campus printers.
