Printing from your Student Computer – Windows 8 & 8.1 Instructions

First you need to install the PaperCut client software – If you already have PaperCut installed you do not need to do it again.

1.     Click on the “Desktop” Tile and then click on File Explorer. (Looks like a file folder) or you can search for File Explorer (just start typing when you are on the Tiles screen).

2.     On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer” or “libraries.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type in : \\print.augie.edu (Be sure to use the back-slash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)

3.     Open the folder titled “PC Client.” Double click the “win” folder.

4.     Double click the “client-local-install.exe” file and follow the instructions. When asked for your login and password, use your regular Augustana username and password.

Now install the printers you would like to use

1.     Click on the Desktop Tile and then click on File Explorer. (see above for help)

2.     On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer” or “libraries.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type \\print.augie.edu (Be sure to use the back-slash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)

3.     Open the folder titled “PC Client.”

4.     Double click the file “Win8PrintPatch.reg”.  and run the file.  You will see need to agree to the changes this program will make.

5.     Restart the computer – your printer can not be installed until you restart.

6.     Go back to \\print.augie.edu

7.     Now locate and double –click the printer you would like to install.

8.     Click on next and the printer will install.

You are now able to print to the selected campus printers.

  1. Click on the Start button then click “Computer” on your start menu.
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type in: \\print.augie.edu (Be sure to use the back-slash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Open the folder titled PC Client then the win folder
  4. Double click client-local-install.exe and follow the instructions. When asked for your login and password – use your regular Augustana username an password.

Now install the printers you would like to use.

  1. Click on the Start button then click Computer on your start menu. (If you are still a windows XP user it will be labeled (My Computer)
  2. On the top of the window there will be an area that is similar to a web browser that will say “computer.” Click on that and delete anything in that field and then type in: \\print.augie.edu (Be sure to use the forward slash key located on the top right of the keyboard.)
  3. Now locate and double click on the printer you would like to use.
  4. Click on next and the printer will install.

Almost done

  1. Once the printer is installed find it within your Printers and Devices tab under the start menu.
  2. Right click on the printer and select Printer Properties.
  3. Find the Device Settings tab and open it.
  4.  Scroll down to the option called Duplexing unit (for two sided printing).
  5. Click on the drop down window and switch it from uninstalled to installed.
  6. Next go back into your Devices and Printers and right click on the printer this time selecting Printing Preferences
  7. Click on print on both sides and duplexing.
  8. You are now able to print to the selected campus printers.
